At this point we can't choose what kind of recruits we get, especially when they are 4 stars. Right now, I would rather have bunch of 3/4/5 stars committ with shaky pasts than a bunch of 2/no stars committ and have them be great kids. We need talent on this team and this is obviously a great start.

Good point. I usually agree with that statement 100%.

I hope he wins the Heisman, but I still doubt he ever plays a down

I'll take the two stars without the shaky pasts. Going for talented player with baggage is how a football program gets in trouble. We don't need that. Somehow, Boise seems to win with 2 star players with clean pasts.

Rivals has him as the #33 JUCO player in America, for whatever it's worth.

I hope you do realize we've had, have, and will have guys on our football team that are bigger jokes than most people would believe.

You know what, though, getting into a college athletics program gives some guys a real shot to clean themselves up. ISU's got a pretty damn good support system.

Why is it that everytime something positive happens involving Cyclone athletics, somebody has to come and spin it into a negative? We just got a commitment from a player that both Gene Chizik and Paul Rhoads wanted. He also had offers from other BCS schools, and Rivals rates him as a 4* prospect. Scout had him as a 5* at one point.

Yes, the possibility exists that he will never play a down. That possibility exists with every recruit. However, there is also a possibility that he will be a great player for us. There is no reason for doom and gloom predictions on a day when a young man decides he wants to be a Cyclone.

I think the rivals rating was pre-season as a qb. That ranking will probably drop when they update it since he was beaten out at qb. But he seems athletic and why not take a chance.

Normally I would agree with you. It just seems his trouble has been so recent that I can't see it working out at ISU.

We get a commit from a 4 star guy and even on Christmas day, some people still can't be happy.

I feel bad for you, I really do.

It's always the same people. Sometimes people don't get enough attention in their real life.

Give them some credit, at least they aren't spending their time cutting the eyes out of photographs and making bombs.

More black clouds....

I really hope some of you people have pleasures outside ISU. If not, it must really suck!

Lighten up and welcome the kids that want to be with ISU....Merry Christmas in the most non-capitalistic manner!

Don't feel bad for me. I live a pretty good life and am very happy. This message board stuff is just a time filler for me.

You say some people still can't be happy. I say some people can rarely be realistic.

Santa doesn't exist. Someone should have told you that years ago. For the record I got a Bose Sound Dock, and some tools for Christmas.
Just don't give yourself a lobotomy with your new drill while listening to the cure. And Merry Christmas

I think coaches are allowed limited contact. Not sure how much but they can still have some communication with recruits. That's why the dead period is a joke to me.

Welcome Money, and Merry Christmas! Iowa State is a great University. Make it the best experience you can, and I know you will. We fans like to take pride in our student athletes both on and off the field.

Now let's shore up the defensive line, LB's, etc.

From what I have heard a coach during the dead period can only call a recruit once a week. But the recruit can call as much as they would want during that time.
