I don't know what people want from Purdy. I can't imagine what kind of numbers he would have if he had better coaching at the online and better play calling. I guess next year we will see if Purdy was the problem or did he cover for a lot of coaching problems.
The people just constantly railing on him are going to be the same people crying about how much they miss him next season.

Purdy never played with Lazard. I’ve seen some other posters say this too. His freshman year was Lazard’s rookie year in the NFL.

mb, my brain runs those together for some reason. Point still stands though

It is... but in fairness to our fans - I think many of them - myself included - really thought that this might finally be the year. I never realistically thought we were going to the playoffs but I thought that maybe, just maybe, we might finally win that conference football title or at least go back to the title game and hopefully beat Iowa.

Because I'm well aware that its unlikely going to be a year in and year out thing where we compete for league titles... so I guess my question that leads to depression is - if not this team... who? We have arguably a better collection of talent than we've ever had. It almost at times now feels like we may never actually win a league title.

I still have faith. I still think next year might not be as bad as some think despite everyone we lose. But that question does linger longer than I want in my brain....

if not this team... then who? That's where my disappointment is. Heading into the season it seemed like for once the stars aligned where we had a real chance at being league champions in football - and obviously we know the rest.

Being as optimistic as possible, regarding program-building, maybe we won't be limited to do-or-die, once-per-decade seasons to have historic results, having only one time with a lot of talent and experience and then have it revert to the mean or worse for several years.

(edit) Even if that's the case, letting this type of potential go south is less than ideal. Even if it's long-term a solid vision, sometimes you've gotta have a big break-out (such as 10-plus wins) when it's available.

Need to have a fantastic atmosphere for the graduating/leaving players at their last home game ever to celebrate their careers & the best stretch of football in ISU history. The season's results are below expectations, but win & continue our home winning streak & get into a bowl & take care of business there for an 8-5 year. Those coming back will be as hungry as ever & want to continue &, better yet, improve on the direction & performance of the program.

On top of this, I will be wasted for TCU, which is really cool.
I’d love to see a full stadium but 35deg, student break, and apathy for the underachieving season tells me otherwise.

Our current record of 6-5 just does not compute. At the beginning of the season if someone told me we were more likely to be 6-5 right now rather than 10-1 or 11-0, I would have laughed. 6-5 breaks my brain. I am absolutely heartbroken this season. This has been the most disappointing season of ISU football. I've seen some monumentally terrible teams, but for this team to be 6-5 right now leaves a huge pit in my stomach. Even winning a bowl game seems meaningless now. Honestly, the only goal for these last two games should be getting Breece rushing touchdowns to break the record. I really don't think anything else matters.

and I do think that we'll be in a bowl next season - maybe better - because I do have faith that CMC is building it the right way. Do I get tired of coach speak? Sure do. but I have zero doubt that he has the right vision for the program overall.

im right there with you. I’ve watched ISU football for nearly 50 years. This is the most disappointing and underachieving team I’ve ever seen. Bar none. For all the talk about the margins and detail…this team has lost in both all season long. It is beyond mind baffling how such a talented squad can make the number of mistakes this team has. I’m hopeful for next week, but not going to be surprised if this team ends up 6-7 on the year. I’m not even sure how I would describe this team to someone and have them believe me.

10 wins is ridiculously tough to get to in a P5 league...we never have experienced one! I had high expectations but no way was I holding this team to a standard that has never been achieved in the history of Iowa State football! The season is disappointing to this point but there have been some fun moments as well as those frustrating ones! This program still needs to learn to win! We are still improving in that area but we need to finish it off! But no way if we finish with 8 wins will I think this season wasn't a joy! Didn't reach the highest hopes but still fun! Guess that comes from being a fan for so long! LOL

A lot of upset players in the postgame show, but it was strange that Campbell seemed very upbeat. Proud of the guys etc. not sure what I wanted to hear but I guess not that. ‍♂️

I agree on the 10 wins thing... I thought maybe 10 wins if we managed to get to the title game and bowl - but 10-3 or 10-4 was the high water mark. I was thinking 8 regular season, then 9 with a bowl or big 12 title with outside chance of 10.

he's been like that all season, mostly. And while I certainly understand trying to keep the locker-room together and find the positives in a tough situation... IDK. Its seemed strange to me but that's just me
