Do OU and Texas stay through 2025?

I don’t think OU and Texas are going anywhere. Their buyout is freaking massive. 3 more years is my guess, but 1 for sure

This is where I land until proven otherwise. Doesn't seem like Bowlsby is in any mood to cut them any slack. Any deal to let them out early will have to be cash positive for the Big 12.

There is a ton of value in making them stay too. Imagine the validation someone like Cincy or UCF gets from winning in Norman? And the schadenfruede from forcing Texas to play at Houston is worth more than money

I hope they stick around so we can just keep crushing them. Physically and mentally. Their players and fans. They are on the edge of obscurity in the SEC. All that cash will keep them warm at night, watching us at home, playing in bowl games every year.

That’s a big ten type of split.

LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M are all vastly superior programs to anything the Big Ten (West) can offer. One of those three won a national title not too long ago. Alabama is just such a Death Star that whatever division or pod it is in kind of becomes the group of death by default.

Not exactly sure.
I want them one more year. Want to go to Texas, haven’t been there. Need a night game though. Son will be varsity next year so we would not leave until after 10 pm. It was 9.5 hours to Norman. So I need 15 hours to get there.

Do you think if the tables were turned, those two bastard universities would do any favors for the other 8 universities? HELL NO!
Get the "bleep" out of our conference and get your asses kicked around in the ESECPN for all eternity as far as I'm concerned.

Bama, Georgia, and Florida would normally be 3 of the top 4 in the conference.

I'm really curious to see the division setup in the Big 12 especially at 14 for a couple years.

If I'm the Big 12, OU and Texas are going to Provo, Cincinnati, Orlando and Houston a lot.
You give them the toughest teams on the road and the easy ones at home to tick off their fans.

This. Having them stay, even though you know they want to be gone, is some delicious revenge, especially if both schools are in a bit of a down period. Give em a few bruises on their way out.

OU fans are almost as bad as Tx, I follow DirtBurglars a little they ALWAYS complain about having 11am K.O. There is nothing wrong with that time at all. Then if they don't win it's the officials. I really won't mind both of those fan bases being gone.

their fan base is amazing, the big 12 bends over backward, gives them every call and protects them for the last 30 years, and they *****

You’re not wrong that it’s not perfectly balanced. But there are going to be West teams in the SEC championship under that alignment that are a credible threat to the East teams. This is not the case in the Big Ten. Wisconsin won the Big Ten championship game in 2011 and 2012 (under the “Legends” and “Leaders” pretensions) and since then the East has *always* won.

Way up there
That’s a big ten type of split.

With a 12 team playoff, they can confidently plan on getting 3 teams in minimum every year. Competition doesn't have to be a major factor in how they split things up, TV matchups are what will matter. We'll see 3/4 loss SEC teams in the playoffs, losing won't matter nearly as much.

I want them to pay out all the buyouts to the 8 remaining teams and leave now. Morons.
But there almost have to be in the league for another year. Scheduling issues and we need the other team's to join the league.

I guess one thing ou and texas will have an advantage on is they are used to playing 9 conference games with one non conf game with another power 5 school.
Teams like mizzou are going to be more like a 4-5 win team on average without that extra cupcake.on the schedule.

I think Alabama and Auburn will move to the East - which will balance out the two divisions better. Man, the East Sucks! Alabama has not lost to an SEC East Team since 2010 @ South Carolina, but loses to a West team most years (@ Texas A&M this year).
