I'm kind of in this camp. Clemson lost a lot from last year and struggled early. Certainly a disappointing season for them. But I think they are getting things figured out and would have a big talent advantage. I don't like our chances in that game.

I dont gives a rats ass if they beat us by 100, it will still be cool to play Clemson (just like it was to play ND and Oregon).

Yeah the weirdness of some fans not wanting to challenge ourselves in a meaningless exhibition is bizarre. We got our Fiesta Bowl win last year over a big time program, so we crossed that off the list. I want to see us stack up against the big dogs as many times as we can. Could it go like Notre Dame last time in Orlando? Sure. But hey, imagine if we win...weird concept.

Edit: I would also add that the beatdown Notre Dame gave us may have been a big reason as to why last year went the way it did for us. Campbell stated we needed to get bigger, faster and stronger. He made some changes. So going against a Clemson we will learn a hell of a lot more about what we need to do to take that next step, as opposed to winning an exhibition against NC State or Mississippi State.

I completely disagree. Clemson would manhandle or OL and the score would be lopsided. Clemson has also gotten a lot better as the year has gone on. Would much rather face NC State.

I can't see this team getting blown out by anyone outside of Alabama or Georgia. Clemson certainly has gotten better but it would be a one score game.

I tend to prefer an easier match-up in the bowl game to pick up momentum for the off-season and send the seniors out on a high note and I think Clemson could be a really tough game. I'd much rather see us play a team like Arkansas in the Texas Bowl. I understand it's technically a less "prestigious" bowl, but I kind of like having all eyes on the team on January 4th.

I think there might be a little too much confidence in Georgia. Obviously not being challenged much means you are a good team. But are they going to hold up in a tight game when Alabama was basically just in a playoff game?

Not to mention Georgia's SoS on Sagarin is like #51.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that Fiesta Bowl win didn't really give us much momentum into this year considering how poorly we played in September.

In general there is so much time off between bowl game and the next season, I do honestly think the extra practices, momentum, etc. has always been a tad overblown. Practices are definitely important, but personally I don't buy the momentum thing at all.

Not exactly sure.

Seemed to give us recruiting momentum. That will help the momentum in a couple years also.

Plus, playing Arkansas (8-4) would still be a challenge against a name brand. I think ISU vs. Arkansas @ Houston would be a great Bowl match-up.

Unless we ended up in the Alamo, how would K State get this invite over us?

We have a better conference record, same total record and beat them head to head.

K-State had the same conference record and better overall record, and beat us head to head, and we still got picked over them in 2019 for the same game to play Notre Dame. They were big mad about it.

i think i prefer houston over orlando although going to orlando to play clemson would be nice.

i say we accept orlando only if its clemson, otherwise goto houston.

To me Arkansas is not a name brand at all. It’s a well below average SEC team.

I do like the January 4 thing though.
They are an old historical brand trailing only Texas (27) and Texas A&M (17) in SWC Championships with (14). So, while they are not as high of a brand as the SEC upper echelon, they are higher than Iowa State. That's for sure. Plus, regardless of branding, I'd just enjoy an Iowa State (7-5) vs. Arkansas (8-4) match-up.

I love the confidence in this however I'm not sure if Iowa State is in a position to turn down a bowl invitation, especially one as high as the Cheez It.

I get that you're the resident SEC apologist, but citing the number of titles won in a conference that hasn't existed in 25 years -- and which the school in question left 30 years ago -- as proof of brand status is a hell of a stretch.
