It was more the way Pollard was trying to blow smoke up people's asses by saying he was going to take his time and do his due diligence by talking to multiple prospects when he clearly had TJ already hired.

But it seems to have worked out so good for him...

Some of you need to let it go. Say you were 100% wrong and quit making excuse for why you were wrong….but still unjustified.

The thing I like most about this team is they are a team. On any given night someone steps up. If Kalscheur not hitting, Brockington comes through, if Kalscheur and Brockington are not hitting, Grill steps up and so on and so on. When something or someone is off they resort to option A, B …. Z. I haven’t seen D like that since Floyd and Eustachy days. I absolutely love their toughness and togetherness.

It's almost like Pollard had never seen TJ coach up close or had a relationship with him to determine whether he'd be a good fit for ISU in the current situation.

Has anyone gotten a call from a former employer that's looking for help and thinks you'd be a good fit? Not an extensive process.

After seeing the highlights, that was a gritty, well deserved win. I work with a pretty big Creighton fan. Looks like he won’t have too much to say on Monday.

He shouldn't be embarrassed. Although I haven't seen every Creighton game the last 12 years......that was about as good of defensive effort from a GMAC team that I can remember.

That's a game where you lose by 10+ if you don't play great defense. Just incredible, especially given the fact that Creighton had 5 threes that were either A) end of the shot clock heaves, B) 25'+ or C) passes that accidentally went in.
10? The way we were shooting I'd say 20-30.

Bust out a small violin when he starts whining about the refs, the stinkin' refs....

And they are young. I would love to see a home/home rotation with them on a consistent basis.

There is going to be some dang good basketball played in Hilton again.

Pollard went out on a limb and hired the guy that he wanted to hire when we did Prohm, and so far, it's worked out for ISU. Hiring a coach is not always going to be a home run, no matter what the experts think, and this time Jami made a great hire, even though many did not want TJ.

I wasnt thrilled with the TJ hire but here we are. Great start and hope it continues. I dont have any expectations of competing for the B12 but if he continues to grow with this team and into the future,, I will eat crow.

A win or loss against Iowa should have nothing to do with tournament expectations. This team has clearly shown what it is capable of 8 games in.

Capability will be truly seen in January.

Very fun so far though.

I was wondering how they'd do if they got down by 10 and they worked through it last night (9) so that's encouraging.

Just love the in game coaching this staff does. Prime example is like taking a player out just before the media timeout if they are in foul trouble so that they don’t pick up a cheap one.

Before the season, I had this team at 4-4 at this point and likely 4-5 after the Iowa game. A win against the Hawks and we are likely going to finish 12-0 in the non conference with the Mizzou game left at home in the middle of conference play. A 9-9 conference record should get us in the tourney.

Roster management so far has been very good from what I've seen.

The right players are on the floor and do what they need to do.

Exactly what I was thinking. It seemed kinda of a quiet night for Brockington (even though he had 12pts), but Grill is the one who steps up. How about that put-back lay in he had - what a huge play. Not to mention he was 4-4 from Trey.
Yes the D was excellent and helped up tremendously; it was also helpful we shot 50% from trey - something that's been missing last couple years.

We can expect a tough half-court press from Fran; I'm sure he'll see from scouting film we had some trouble with Creighton's press. And I expect Coach TJ to have us prepared ! Really hope we can win this game in Hilton.

In a way what Brockington did last night was a highlight.

Could not get anything going but just stuck with it with patience and hit big shots.

Iowa will go after Conditt too with cheap shots to get him going.
