I know its being discussed in the other weather thread, but for those who don't check megathreads, be on high alert Wednesday.

I have not looked closely at models or forecasts, but Iowa is only included in the general thunderstorm outline for Wednesday, per the SPC. Apparently they do not believe the ingredients are there for, or have very low confidence in, any severe weather occurring.

Upgraded to a Marginal risk. Any further upgrades hinge on the thermodynamics improving from current forecasts.

I think there’s a good chance that marginal outline turns yellow by tomorrow. Usually this far out, slight to marginal is all they’re comfortable forecasting.

Gonna take down the trampoline netting, put sandbags on the legs, and tether it to the chain link fence to be safe.

So glad that I got our huge tree in our backyard taken down earlier this spring. It got topped out in a couple places from the derecho in 2020 so we decided to get the rest of it taken down. For all those people that have dead limbs in trees from the derecho yet, I wonder if insurance would cover any damage that resulted from them causing damage. I would think they wouldn't as they would be considered a preexisting type of potential damage. Just a guess though.

The derecho damaged my tree pretty bad; I asked my adjuster if insurance would pay for the removal of my tree, but he told me 'homeowners insurance is reactive, not preventative' so I had to pay to have it removed myself. I am guessing insurance would pay for damage, regardless if a tree was already damaged. That might just be my insurance company though.

We were told if the tree had any damage before a storm clean-up would not be covered...
