Let's just say Donnie fron the New Kids on the Block had to have his stomach pumped after a little recruiting trip he took to Ames....

"Who's your favorite new kid, call me Joey uh, call me Donnie uh. Please don't go."

name that movie

LOL I was just telling a friend who doesn't know much about college bball that Matt A was essentially a known bag man for Fred everywhere he's been.

I love how these extreme Type A college coaches all of a sudden have no idea that an assistant could possibly cheating under their watch.

They control everything down to what guys eat for breakfast and what shoes they wear but somehow miss hundreds of thousands of dollars 'disappearing'.

Disappearing? The money isn't coming from the AD Budget

FWIW, I was told by a two comma booster once very casually "we just can't afford to pay as much for guys" as the Kentucky and Kansas type schools. This was during the Hoiball years.

I think probably the majority of P6 schools cheat (i.e. pay) for recruits and transfers to some extent.
I know Matt A was pretty strongly implicated, and I'm pretty confident he wasn't acting without Fred knowing something. I just hadn't heard any buzz about TJ being a part of the problem, and the out-of-the-blue comment just didn't sit right with me.

I love the Matt A bashing…as if Fred and the rest of the staff didn’t know what was going on.

Two rules as a coach:

1) have a guy do your dirty work
2) never communicate with that guy in writing
I had a friend who was good friends with some basketball players, including some fan favorites. In no way do I find this surprising nor do I think Fred is innocent. Nothing I heard went outside the bounds of like normal college athletics stuff but it's certainly a hard thing to be successful at if you're gonna be totally clean.

What would he have done to lose his job though? I mean...Bruce Pearl is still coaching...Self will continue to coach...if Fred gets canned for something it would have to be significant!
Attempting to coach at Nebraska is the leading cause of getting fired. Especially with football the dumpster fire it is they have nothing to distract that fan base from doing what they do best. Turning on coaches and firing them.

I had a conversation with one NU fan in Omaha. He informed me he that firing Hoiberg is already warranted, and they would fire Kirk Ferentz at Nebraska if he produced the same results at Nebraska as he has at Iowa. Without hesitation

Fred is a good guy and a decent coach, but Nebraska is one of the bottom 10 worst P6 BBall programs of all time. He’s not the guy to change that.

they’ve never gotten players and they will never get players. You need like Bob Huggins or a Bruce Weber type to change that. And it can’t be a FCS guy like Miles, it has to be a P6 guy.

Not to mention they are the outpost of the Big 10. Recipe for no success.

So basically... our football program pre-Campbell
