The pole shift is accelerating. This is what we can expect, by the end of this decade it will be apparent that Iowa is well on its way to becoming nearly a tropical climate. The question is what the Mississippi river does as far as where the coastline will end up.

Every time I think you've said the dumbest thing I've ever heard, you keep talking.

Perhaps not, I'm less concerned with whether he's right about that than whether what he's saying represents an upgrade in severity.

NWS definition of a derecho: "By definition, if the swath of wind damage extends for more than 250 miles (about 400 kilometers), includes wind gusts of at least 58 mph (93 km/h) along most of its length, and also includes several, well-separated 75 mph (121 km/h) or greater gusts, then the event may be classified as a derecho."

While it may not meet the definition of derecho, it seems like it will be close, and some people may experience very similar impacts.

Never had one single weather day in my 3 years there. And there were definitely dates that all the area schools had shut down. Couple individual morning classes but that's it.

Never felt like it was a major deal but I lived on campus (Friley and UV) the whole time so I'm sure the commuters would disagree!
I think there was a day or day and a half around winter '96 or '97 where they actually shut down. It was bitterly cold and the snow was non-stop it seemed. Being a Towers resident, it was a welcome relief.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to buy a lake house on Lake Agassiz.

Is this when the earth is supposed to go sideways and we have east and west poles.

Just heard @FDWxMan update on the fanatics. Yikes! Good advice to charge all your stuff and prepare. Just pulled the Christmas decorations out of the front yard...

Already done in western Omaha. Nothing very severe in my neighborhood but north and south of Omaha probably getting brunt. Good luck to you across the river esp in Mills county.
