This game was scheduled when we were coming off a 2 win season. There's no way ESPN/Big 12 would have imagined it would be a Top 10 matchup. Very easily could have been on ESPN+.
When you have 5 or 6 teams that are top 25 your going to get your fair share. Not my point. It just seems that the Big XII tends to schedule the top team in the league to play in Hilton in early January. I'm not a conspiracy guy, I think it's just a coincidence.
I believe the conference switched it from a forfeit to being declared a "no contest" with a possibility to be rescheduled. What are the big12 rules on cancel vs reschedule
The game will stay on ESPNU because we're up against bowls that are happening at the same time. That said, athletics needs to find a way to allow students back. I get we played Chicago State, but Hilton was dead last night. We need some energy in there come conference play....and yes before you reply to my comment, I am aware that conference games have always started during the holiday break, but that doesn't excuse for not letting students in, especially given how our season is going
Don't the students get 1st crack at buying their seats during break? This is asked as a friendly question I haven't been a student for a loooong time.
Complaining about this when the game is on NYD is dumb. At least it's not on ESPN+ Iowa State/the Big 12 have played on ESPNU for freakin years.
Everyone's tired of the pandemic. Full Stop. Let's talk something positive - like the Cyclone BB team? Yeah?
Glad the game is a sellout - really looking forward to seeing how Baylor handles a truly hostile road game to start conference play. I know Scott Drew will have them ready - but my money is on the home team in this one.

That just completely doesn’t make any sense why they wouldn’t give access to ESPNU if you’re paying them a monthly subscription. Mind boggling.I bought ESPN+. Don't have U.

IDK Buddy Boy! Probably Hassell and GretalWho are the announcers ? Beth and dolphin?![]()
Inquiring minds want to know . . . what does the buffalo do?Too bad we don't have a pessimistic icon because I have very little confidence in them changing their plans as they squeeze every single nickel until the buffalo *****.
Ya mean this one. HaHa. I don't ever need much prodding to see that play!I don't know how many people remember this but Kane's butt assist off of Woodbury was missed by the broadcast so nobody who wasn't at the game got to see it live. They had to show the TV viewers a replay. Fail.
ESPN\ESPN2\ESPNU are tied up in contracts with the major cable\satellite\streaming providers. They likely cannot give away content on those channels on ESPN+ due to those agreements. Even if they could, giving it away on the much less valuable ESPN+ subscription would devalue that product in their future negotiations with the cable\sat\streaming providers.
Some people just live this ********. “Colds running rampant, what will we do? Aaaahhhhhh!I'd think with Omicron spreading like wildfire in the US, the chance of ISU/Baylor game taking place Jan 1 is iffy...

It was posted in another thread that student season ticket holders had the option to add any or all break games for $5 a game.
If I remember when I was in school (2006 - 2010) the student ticket package doesn't include games during the holiday break. So the AD sells those tickets to the general public during that time.
What percentage of tickets normally would be used by students on break? Or even this year? Maybe 50% of the students show imo.
Best to make it available cheap as an add-on, then GA the rest. It is a great way to get people who otherwise would not make it to Hilton, hooked on going.
This is true. My daughter is a sophomore and can confirm being on break isn't stopping anything.
Cyclone Alley will be full of students and the upper deck will be general public. In the past that's how it has typically worked for the bigger games.
Great that there is a sell-out! That's the way it should be! Even though it happens to be on Jan 1 it might be one of the most important, best games of the year! So much expectation now (maybe?) but still uncertainty.Didn’t these students have to claim Baylor tickets before thanksgiving? That could limit the number of students there. New Year’s Day also hurts student turnout.
