Isheem Young enters transfer portal

None really. So far it's only "closer to his kid at a big time school" and "has a friend at Georgia".
I'm waiting to see if this means he pulls a Hamilton.
There’s a WR transfer for the Florida Gators playing in the Gasparilla bowl tonight. Just wondering if it’s been confirmed Isheem Young won’t play?
It would absolutely shock me if Isheem played in Orlando.
Same here 2.8ish in High School and 22 on ACT, I'm doing pretty good despite that.
Looking at several schools, it seems the portal works for a guy to move from Delaware to ISU. Or Fordham to ISU. Good for them. And maybe it works for a 5 star guy who wants to go from Alabama to Ohio State. But it looks like the majority of guys get stuck in the portal and go to a lesser program or maybe even end up nowhere.
We loved Young as a Cyclone, but he hasn't been snatched up right away. A lot of targeting penalties, maybe that lessens his appeal? I don't know. I'm just not yet convinced this portal is a good thing for a lot of players. For most, it is just a way to go to a lower school where you have a better chance to play. If that's what you want, then it works. Really interested to see where Isheem ends up going.

So, what else would you base it on??
My daughter isn't a great standardized test taker, but she worked hard and has a GPA to prove it. That is why there is a sliding scale - either prove it in the classroom or on the test. What else would you use?
What they used the last year or two. Gpa and coursework. They did exactly this during the pandemic.
Maybe Isheem ends up at a lesser school than ISU but I would be shocked if the reasoning was targeting penalties.
Every school is a lesser school compared to ISU.
Research shows that students who enter ISU with outstanding GPA's and mediocre ACT/SAT scores perform better than students who enter ISU with outstanding ACT/SAT scores and mediocre GPA's. When you think about it, it's not surprising.
Yeah I think GPA/Coursework is indicative of a good set of habits as a student, while the ACT is a good measure of a very narrow set of problem solving skills.
This is a common problem. Many students coming to college with no study skills. E en high achievers and when they struggle (however the student defines struggle) it can be mentally damaging. ISU created Psy 131 Study Strategies for that reason to help students learn how to study. I encourage every new freshman I work with to take the class. Best begin on the right foot.
