So... rumors as to where he's headed?
Oregon here he comes....None really. So far it's only "closer to his kid at a big time school" and "has a friend at Georgia".
I'm waiting to see if this means he pulls a Hamilton.
There’s a WR transfer for the Florida Gators playing in the Gasparilla bowl tonight. Just wondering if it’s been confirmed Isheem Young won’t play?
It would absolutely shock me if Isheem played in Orlando. There’s a WR transfer for the Florida Gators playing in the Gasparilla bowl tonight. Just wondering if it’s been confirmed Isheem Young won’t play?
I got a 26., had a 2.9ish for high school. As things go, I did kinda OK.
Google tells me it goes to 36.
My general plan is to open the doors and give people a chance. Obviously, not everyone is pushing on to maniacal extremes like I did, but that's fine. People find out a lot about subjects and themselves.
I'm in favor of pitching the ACT/SAT stuff for college. If people want to base scholarships on it, that is their choice. I have seen too many times a high ACT person do poorly due to work skills and general ability and also seen poor test takers really excel in school and work. They just aren't a great standardized test taker.
Can't wait till this thread gets back to ACT/GPA talk...right?![]()

What they used the last year or two. Gpa and coursework. They did exactly this during the pandemic. So, what else would you base it on??
My daughter isn't a great standardized test taker, but she worked hard and has a GPA to prove it. That is why there is a sliding scale - either prove it in the classroom or on the test. What else would you use?
This. Standardized testing used in this manner aren’t great predictors of success. What they used the last year or two. Gpa and coursework. They did exactly this during the pandemic.
Maybe Isheem ends up at a lesser school than ISU but I would be shocked if the reasoning was targeting penalties.Looking at several schools, it seems the portal works for a guy to move from Delaware to ISU. Or Fordham to ISU. Good for them. And maybe it works for a 5 star guy who wants to go from Alabama to Ohio State. But it looks like the majority of guys get stuck in the portal and go to a lesser program or maybe even end up nowhere.
We loved Young as a Cyclone, but he hasn't been snatched up right away. A lot of targeting penalties, maybe that lessens his appeal? I don't know. I'm just not yet convinced this portal is a good thing for a lot of players. For most, it is just a way to go to a lower school where you have a better chance to play. If that's what you want, then it works. Really interested to see where Isheem ends up going.
Every school is a lesser school compared to ISU.Maybe Isheem ends up at a lesser school than ISU but I would be shocked if the reasoning was targeting penalties.
Yeah I think GPA/Coursework is indicative of a good set of habits as a student, while the ACT is a good measure of a very narrow set of problem solving skills.Research shows that students who enter ISU with outstanding GPA's and mediocre ACT/SAT scores perform better than students who enter ISU with outstanding ACT/SAT scores and mediocre GPA's. When you think about it, it's not surprising.
I wasn’t serious in HS. I showed up to test hung over and sick, hit a 26. I studied for one test in HS (never opened a book, some classes literally) That was reading my notes twice (only did because the teacher said he had never had a 100% on it in all his years so he kept the test and you could only look at it after, so I wanted to show up his arrogance) and carried a 3.67 in HS taking college preps.
It came easy for me. Why I struggled at the beginning of college.
