The defense today mostly did a great job. Clemson was averaging 36 points per game the last 5 games. The defense held them to 13 today.

Will be interesting next year with a new QB (probably), RB, etc.

The defense has been doing this year and year out, game in and out. They have fought through multiple bad field positions, but even the Best defense cannot overcome a turnover prone offense.

Whos happy about the loss? Not me. But if you think a new OC will change it you are crazy. Campbell has his system and no OC will change it.
That’s a pretty strong position…no OC can improve the lack of 2 minute offense? No OC can have our offense ready to play against TTU and WVU? No OC can figure out a way to put points on the board against the toe? Sorry man, no way Manning is the right guy going forward.

Thank you to all the seniors! Definitely not the way they wanted it to end but they’ve changed how we all think about Iowa State football. 5 straight bowls is a first for ISU!

Campbell and Coaching staff I’m sure will have some long conversations on what areas need improvement. They can’t feel good about 7-6 with the team we had going into the season. Time for self reflection.

Campbell told Breece and Mike to sit out, but it's soooooo selfish of those guys to risk their NFL careers just to play in the cracker bowl. Give me a ******* break...
I dont blame them but the system as a whole is broken. Where does the slippery slope end, we gonna start hanging it up mid-October now if your team isn't looking very good?
All you need to know about how big of joke these bowl games have become, 2 Ohio State players are opting out. The sport has major issues when players are too scared to play in the freaking Rose Bowl of all games.

When Dekkers sets 32 ISU QB records, I'll concede that he should have been the guy this year. Until then...ridiculous.

Yeah you don't just do that and who knows what he's like for getting the game down but I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.

Huge props to Purdy for his career.

I'm ready for a fresh start to ISU football next season.

He can't hold a jockstrap to Seneca Wallace and Roesnfels was alot better player also. He was decent Qb that happened to be here when we had 2 NFL running backs and one of the best defenses in the country over his 4 years. These last 4 years are by far the most talent that's ever been in Ames as a whole.

didn’t Sage have a nfl rb both season he started? Either way he was never the best qb in school history… not even close

seneca was good, had zero support cast and Marty Fine.

Brock was really good, not elite.

I loved Seneca and Sage, but the numbers don't lie. Purdy was voted 1st team all big 12 a couple of times. Don't recall Seneca or Sage ever receiving that honor. Purdy's home record at against Big 12 opponents is unreal - something like 17-1. Don't recall Seneca or Sage coming anywhere close to that.

Someone said 'well David Montgomery stayed' but iirc even in 2018 it wasn't common for players to sit out their bowl game. That started getting picked away at and you have to wonder if he plays in the bowl game in 2018 if it's similar to now.

Mike was hurt. If you want to ding Breece for making a decision to not play in essentially a scrimmage fine, but mike was legitimately hurt.

If Mike was going to opt out he would have done so immediately. Im guessing it was a nagging injury, couldn't get over - and would have probably pushed it but didn't want to risk for the draft. I'm sure ESPN put a ton of research into it for what they stated on the broadcast.

It just sucks that the last image we’ll have of Cyclone Football for the best 9 months until the 2022 season is that Purdy fumble.

Seneca Wallace was great, but I went back and watched some older games earlier this year.

I think there's a little bit of nostalgia that plays into this take, but Seneca had some insane plays that really stick out from his career that we all remember.

As a 4 year starter, Brock has been to 4 straight bowl games, a Big 12 championship appearance, and won the Fiesta bowl. You could argue that his teams overall have been better, but he delivered pretty consistently every year.
