Have you ever been embarrassed to wear Cyclone Gear?

Now that I think about it, I can imagine a scenario wherein I WOULD be embarrassed if I had to wear the bugle logo. Does that count?

Post-game comments about once being a "laughingstock" have popped up more than once this year. Feels like comments are being used to deflect attention and criticism for 2021 disappointments. Grateful for the foundation this coach, staff and players have built in the football program. It's been a blast being part of this (2017 is still my favorite year of the six so far). However, if our past is fair game for criticism, doesn't there have to be a little embarrassment about being pre-season top 10 and ending up way outside the final top 25?
Can I like/agree/winner the same post all at once?

ISU gear makes up for about 65% of my clothing options. I will say CMC and his players have made it easier on younger kids to stick with ISU. There was a lot of flipping going on while I was in elementary. At one time in a class of 65 kids there was only 2 of us that would wear ISU stuff on a regular basis.

No. However I do feel bad sometimes when I where my ISU underwear and wear them sparingly due to it. With how the garment is constructed, I feel bad for putting Cy in such an awful position.

This. I don't live in Iowa anymore, but when I come back to visit I notice way more ISU gear than in years past. The tables are beginning to even out despite the media bias.

I took Greg’s comments more as a statement on his personal buy-in compared to others that may have washed out or refused to buy-in 100% the past several years. I didn’t see it as a sleight to fans.

It’s easy for all of us to agree how much we love ISU and wear our colors proudly; we’re literally on a message board for fanatic fans. Of course we all have a maniacal love for ISU. Who knows what personal interactions Greg or Matt have had to frame their perspective on the topic?

I remember traveling a few years back (pre-Campbell) and it just so happened that Leath and Jeff Johnson were hosting a small alumni event in the city I was visiting. They touched on the importance of giving, the growth on campus, etc, but what stood out to me was that they harped on the need for us to “wear your colors.” Get a car sticker, wear a hat, wear the logo. Be proud to wear cardinal and gold. They implied that Iowa State fans are everywhere, but we had not always been the most outgoing with our fandom. By nature, we just don’t have a lot of t shirt fans either.

It’s a running joke here, but how many times have you been in some random corner of America and seen a bozo with a tigerhawk hat or shirt on? I (and I’m sure many of you do) make it a point to wear clones gear whenever I travel. It’s always a point of pride.

Never embarrassed. Wearing ISU gear today. Technically I have it on me 24/7 if you count my ISU tatt.
Multiple ISU tats here, never embarrassed. Other than the earliest one fading and being off center on my arm;. The 70's football Cy that Dan at Yankee Doodle did is amazing! I had a vision to do that whole arm in ISU logos, but kind of abandoned that (for now.)

Shoot, dictionary says it means you are someone who makes you a better version of yourself, but where I’m from when you are called a penguin, it means you are stingy. Penguins have short wings and therefore don’t stretch out to give. If you ain’t going to donate to your school then please don’t preach to us on how much you spent on your education. We all did and it was not a waste of money. Quit acting like you were not getting anything in return.

And there are myriad ways to say that without denigrating the efforts, however futile, of the people who came before you and the tens of thousands of people who pour their energies and finances into supporting your program.
I don't think Campbell respects Rhoads or what he had built.

Not trying to fire up the rumor mill, but he's talked previously about the lack of depth and strength training thus team had when they came in and they were sobered realizing how big of a turnaround was at hand.

To me. It's that. Combined with the lack of in state gear/clothing that's been mostly hawks for a long time. That shift started under Pollard, and has continued with Campbell to a large degree.

Hoiball is what really ramped things up imo.

Embarrassed? As in choosing not to wear an ISU shirt? Sure, the day after getting stomped by Iowa like in CMC's first year. Or most of last year's basketball season. Just don't want to put up with all the Hawk fans that are in the CR area.

All Eastern Iowa ISU super fans should get an ISU tat.
