God I want these ******** out of this league….i am so sick of the bowing at the throne of Phog for nothing….they just constantly protect them for what? So they get a 2 seed and lose in the second round? It just makes no sense. I hope they get a big 10 invitee and get out, let someone else deal with this garbage.

I just dont even know why we play the games there. It’s disgusting.

Which seems absurd. We can review to overturn a goaltend call, but not the other direction? In what world does that make sense?
Baseball has a similar absurd rule. A hit by pitch that's called a foul tip can't be reviewed, but a foul tip called a hit by pitch can be. Rules must have been written by same person.

Tough loss. This though. No excuses. Two very close calls at the end. the 2-3 pointer and the called blocked shot. Could have been a goaltend. Could have been a great block. It was right at the peak. Argument for it still going up. Argument for it coming down. I guess they should have reviewed that to be sure. But hey, it's at Kansas right.

Need to get them back at Hilton and I think we will. would have been real nice for Gabe to have made that last second 3 attempt!
Wrong read on the rule, I believe. Once it hits the backboard, it's considered downward flight.

Art. 3. Goaltending.

a. Goaltending occurs when a defensive player touches the ball during a fieldgoal try and each of the following conditions is met: (Exceptions: Rule 10-4.1.i)

  1. The ball is on its downward flight; and
  2. The ball is above the level of the ring and has the possibility, while in flight, of entering the basket and is not touching the cylinder. b. It is goaltending to touch the ball outside the cylinder during a free throw, regardless of whether the free throw is on its upward or downward flight. c. When the ball contacts the backboard and any part of the ball is above the rim during a field goal attempt, it is considered to be on its downward flight. In such a case, it is goaltending when the ball is touched by a player as long as it has a possibility of entering the basket

TJ needs to ride the officials like he rides players who don’t D up.

This has been a bad two game stretch getting worked by them.
He needs to save some of his voice for the officials.

He (TJ) is very calculating though. I wonder if he is just determined to 'get into the Big 12' rather quietly, pay his dues. I think in time he will get more vocal with the refs.

Really liked Robert Jones' effort tonight on defense. He seems to have a better feel on help defense when to hedge and when to help.

Was curious that Jones was subbed out on KU's last FT's.

But I understand the staff preferred Jaz's shooting on the floor in what they thought would be last possession. Brockington just got a great shot early in the shot clock.

That old familiar white hot anger over Iowa State basketball is back. An unfamiliar feeling after the last two years of Prohm induced apathy. I guess this means TJ is doing something right.

I am ******* beside myself right now. Glad to have this team to root for for the rest of the season though. Kansas must be destroyed in Hilton.

Same. I had myself a full blown meltdown. Things were thrown. I'll be ****** about this one for a solid week.

The game turned out to be way more than I expected both going in and when KU was up 6 with about 3 minutes to go. We were struggling offensively once again in the 2nd half but the defense kept this game within reach. Any year you keep KU to 55 on their home floor with about 4 minutes to go you should win the game but we just don't have enough firepower on offense to make the kind of runs great teams can to put other good teams away. I liked how we tried to establish a bit of a presence in the post at times with Jones but we need to find another dimension somewhere than having to rely on Brockington and Hunter to carry the bulk of the load scoring.

Overall proud of the effort by the team tonight but also frustrated with our scoring limitations too.

that was not a close call. In college once it hits glass it’s a goaltend. That hit glass.
It actually sat a bit on the glass, that's how blatant that goaltend was. There's missing calls that a tough to judge and then there's that. It wasn't even close.

He was subbed out be because he is shooting 36% on free throws for the season.

I am so sad.
I just feel awful for this team. They're limited on offense but Brockington again hit some huge shots and they deserved this win. Unfortunately the B12 allows teams to play 5 on 8 there. I'm sure TJ will be/was cordial post game but these guys deserve someone to rip into this officials post game and all 40 minutes.
