Not being talked about enough of how we missed 3 wide open bunnies off inbounds plays. 2 by IB trying to dunk it when could have laid it in uncontested. Opportunities all over the place tonight. Some a result of officiating and some just our own mistakes

congrats to KU for a mistake free game I guess.

Maybe some day ISU will play a completely flawless game to be worthy of a win.

DMac's arms were pressed down flat to the front of his body setting a screen. I can't believe you are seriously questioning that. If he stuck his elbow out and clipped the ISU player in the face, drawing blood, I would have fully expected him to be called for a flagrant.

EDIT: Did not read thread in proper order. He is not questioning the moving pick, he is questioning us thinking it should be flagrant 1. I don't think we can push that point very well. Definitely moving screen, but you'd need to be inside his head to understand his intent. He did a great job of blocking the ref's mindreading that could understand his intent. Jones needs to work on the mindreading blocking. Just unacceptably unprepared.

EDIT AGAIN: Randomfan44, I apologize for insinuating that you didn't think that was a moving screen. I did not read the thread thoroughly enough. My bad.

OK Randomfan44, Here is the link to the game https://www.hulu.com/watch/0d7525f4-1c70-4a74-bddd-99cc467e9c59 check out 52.4 seconds on the game clock -9:20 or so on the tape.

If you can't tell the difference between being set and providing forceful motion into another player NO MATTER WHERE YOUR ARMS ARE, then you don't know ANYTHING about basketball and the rules that govern it. He set a MOVING screen with his arms clenched tightly to his side. That is not the only part of he rule you need to look at. He is continuing motion, is not set, leaned his left shoulder into the defender to assure contact and wasn't even in good upright position necessary to get away with something like this.

You are completely wrong in defending this as legal.

"That's good officiating."

Was that Dave Armstrong and Reid Gettys from back in the Phillips 66 studio days?

They are so used to biased officiating towards Kansas it took them a couple minutes to figure out Iowa State had a 2 shot foul. Then listen how excited they get when the KU guy drains the 3 that didn't count.

Anyone have a reason why Jones was called for a flagrant 1? It certainly didn't fit the parameters of an F1. Also, did anyone catch the ref explaining the call to Self have have nice chuckle? Wonder what that may have been..

Tuco is the least objective human on earth. He couldn’t even admit the refs gift wrapped the game they won because Niang “fouled” a guy laying on top of him and Whithey got 6 fouls.

He argued for the phantom 3.

I never said it wasn't legal. It was the correct call. I just said it gets ignored a dozen times a game by both teams and if it was true that "the fix was in with the refs" then they would have ignord this one like they ignored all the rest as I do not believe a single moving screen had been called in the entire game prior to this.

"A flagrant 1 foul (men's) or unsportsmanlike foul (women's) involves excessive or severe contact during a live ball, including especially when a player "swings an elbow and makes illegal, non-excessive contact with an opponent above the shoulders". This offense includes the former "intentional foul" of fouling an opposing player to prevent an easy breakaway score. In women's basketball only, the unsportsmanlike foul also includes contact dead-ball technical fouls. The penalty for a flagrant 1 or unsportsmanlike foul is two free throws and a throw-in for the opposing team at the out-of-bounds spot nearest the foul."

In what way does it not meet the parameters? He elbowed the guy above the shoulders, did he not?

My guess is that he gets called for about 1 out of 3 of them, same as McCormack. It gets ignored all game, otherwise both teams would spend the whole game at the line.

He fouls out in about 25 minutes of game play mostly over that call.

You suck at objective reality.

Dreadful flagrant and obvious miss of goal tend hands KU the win. Officials should all make All-Big 12 for KU.
I saw the end last night, and while the calls were awful, it is pretty much par for the course for what I have seen in my lifetime. I can't understand why they didn't review the goal tend. I suppose they leave it to the refs to decide whether something should be reviewed. They reviewed another call that would have helped Kansas, and that was overruled as it should have been. I would say however that it is impossible to change these things. We just have to get so good that we are better than the help the refs give other teams outside of Hilton. It is too bad Kansas doesn't have to do the same.

I tell people about that and they think I’m lying.
There were actually a few KU fans on the reddit postgame thread who basically had to retract their "it happens evenly to everyone" takes when someone posted the video of it.

Fred White was the PBP. Sounds like Gettys on color.

If I'm reading you right, and we should go by the letter of the rules, you agree that play should not have been stopped to assess a flagrant1 when no foul call was made in live action?

Good to know we're on the same page. Thanks for your continued support of cyclone fanatic!
