David #9 in PxP seems like a joke.

Well…let’s look at it. Here are the current InterMat #1s:

125: Suriano
133: RBY
141: Nick Lee
149: Yianni
157: Carr
165: Wick
174: Starocci
184: Brooks
197: Ferrari
HWT: Gable

I’d put Carr ahead of Wick and Lee here. Anyone else?

Then we have guys like Fix and SeaBass not #1’s (SeaBass should be ranked ahead of Eierman, but that’s another discussion). Sasso is out there. Just some examples.

A LOT of talent.

125 is going to be a big match against OU especially if Demas is down at 141 and Moore is the guy at 149. A handful of tossups in this dual. Toss ups that we should be the slight favorite but you just never know.
Terukina needs to start picking up some good wins! We'll need Judge and Devine to come through as well.
Neither Moore or Demas wrestled in their last two meets according to box scores on their site Demas wrestled at 149 the two meets before. Not sure if Moore is having concussion issues

I'd put David ahead of Suriano, Wick, Lee, and Starocci for the #1s. Potentially Brooks too (David has more dominant results). Only people I would for sure put ahead of David from a pfp standpoint would be Gable, Yianni, and maybe Ferrari. Rest I could argue David should be ahead of.

Could definitely argue it, but I'm sure PSU and Michigan fans feel the same way about their guys. So much talent in college wrestling right now with the extra year of eligibility. Seems crazy that Carr would be the 9th best guy in all of wrestling, but I don't think it's entirely impossible. He'll have to start getting bonus points against guys like NDSU's Franek to separate himself from the rest of those guys.

I can get behind those. What about a guy like SeaBass? Undefeated with 100% bonus so far this year (last I heard).

His Rutgers bio says 8-0 this year with 6 bonus. Case could be made that he's above Carr, but if they're that close, I then look at overall career results as the next breaker and David has 2 career losses to Seabasses 15. So, I'd still put David ahead of him.

Such a weird season. I’m too lazy to look it up but who are those bonus wins against? I mean David pinned the Purdue kid but some of those pins are against absolute trash competition. Such a weird year. Makes PxP next to impossible to determine after Steveson.

Agree. This is the last of the season that David needs to show out. He needs to lay the wood to some of these higher ranked wrestlers.

Rivera’s schedule has not been tough.

I wish Flo wouldn’t put their ranking behind a paywall. I can’t even ask someone who has a sub to list their top 10 to see who they have ahead of Carr

Pretty sure you can assume who's #1. I can tell you another 4 of the 8 ahead of him are from one team.

If I'm not mistaken, Carr has the second longest active win streak behind Yianni. But really, let's face it. Since Spencer is out, it's Gable then everyone else for the Hodge.

Count me out subscribing or doing a free trial of anything supporting the Sooners. I'll just get match updates.
What'd be real cool if someone bought this and then posted a link of a live stream of their live stream so we all could watch it.... (I feel exactly zero guilt in ripping that university off like that)

I’ll volunteer to pay the $10 and see if I can show it through a Zoom or Google Meet.

I have to amend my take on Degen/Gfeller earlier. They don’t really have much of a history as Gfeller has been 141 the majority of his career. It was Boo Llewelyn who had Degen’s number.

All things considered, I think we have a shot at winning both duals. A reasonably long shot, but a shot.
