#1 on my wish list next year is getting someone in the portal that hits 40% from 3. Even if its some 5'7 guy from the Sunbelt

No kidding. It isn't even close. Find a god damn shooter. And then find another one. And then you can focus on the rest.

I agree, the roster will look completely different.

There will come a point where he will need to have some continuity, but not in year two.

If he’s overhauling the roster like that 3 years from now, that’s bad. But he’s got to get more good players in the program.

Continuity may be a thing of the past, the transfer portal has really changed the game for schools like ISU. You may be able to find players you need, but you also will lose players you develop.

He’s publicly throwing players under the bus for not trying, we are done for the year. And I worry about losing Brockington and Hunter.

We've got to assume that we'll lose Brockington.

But if we lose Hunter, we are ******. But I doubt we will. Everything TJ has said about him is that he's a pretty level headed kid. Of course, TJ said that Tre was the best teammate on the team and then apparently Tre is a bad teammate all of a sudden.

He’s gotta get some glue guys. Guys that are here for 3-4 years. Georges, Monte, Naz, Matt.

I get that it’s a different world. But if you’re not getting one and dones like Cal, etc. you cannot replace 6-7 guys every year.

Mcdermott did that, and prohm did that the last 3 years.

Where did anyone say Tre was a bad teammate?

I keep saying it, but TJ's post game comments consistently sound like he's missing the point. I'm getting worried he's gonna keep going all in on defense-above-anything-else (or effort, w/e) when it's clear it's an offensive skill/scheme issue more than anything.

this is what worries me, his comments don't suggest he really gets it, and that reminds me of Prohm...I love defense, but you gotta score...and we just do nothing that poor offensive teams need to do in order to win...get to the line, rebound, and push hard off turnovers

it's really the same mistakes, same stat sheet, and the same post game comments with sone passive aggressive throwing of guys under the bus

it's concerning, I hope I'm wrong and he finds a couple good scorers and this us just a bad memory

but I'm worried.

When we played fast and pushed the tempo we jumped out to a lead, and we were driving and kicking. Then we went back to the same ****** offensive sets and settling for dumb shots. That's all coaching.

TJ then threw the guys under the bus on his post game interview with Walter's and Heft saying they "need to play more urgent and show effort and he's only going to play the guys who show effort and urgency".

Well TJ I don't see you showing any urgency standing on the sidelines, armed crossed, biting on your finger while the refs make horrible calls right in front of you. You want the team to show effort then you show effort fighting for your team with the refs.

He’s got to know effort and urgency only get you so far. As a coach you have to put your players in a position to succeed. Just an example, and I know it’s been beat to death on here, but when you run one set pretty much exclusively, you aren’t doing that.

I had coaches in my playing days that only played the guys they thought “played hard” even thought they maybe weren’t as talented as the others. We lost a lot of games.

I mean, I think he would go all in on offensive now if he could. We don't have the guys other than Brockington and sometimes Hunter. Scheme isn't going to suddenly make Gabe drop 6 3s again or suddenly turn anyone else into a 15ppg guy.
I get that, but it's quite literally the coach's job to put them in a position to succeed. Do you think that's been done very well on one side of the court?

This is completely seperate to this Iowa State team, but I remember my high school team, us on the "B" team beat the "A" team just about every time in practice because the only guys who could shoot he had determined before the year weren't "A" team worthy. Needless to say, that guy got fired shortly after I graduated.

It's unreal to me but Lunardi still has us in and it's not even last four safe or last four play in.

I mean...it's a matter of time before we are out, but shockingly even after today's loss at home, he still has us in.

You’re completely underestimating how incredibly soft the bubble is this year.

Its because of our strong non-conference. But we cant lose out and make it, and after today I can't confidently say we'll win another game.

I didn’t hear the postgame? Was he specifically calling out players? And if not, I’m not buying the whole “throwing people under the bus” malarkey. In a way, TJ is right. Still baffled as to why his coaching has gotten so bad though.

I'm well aware of why we are still in the conversation. But he had us as a 9 seed before today. I figured we'd be last four safe/last four in but we are shockingly STILL in the mix and yes @Cyclones1969 I am well aware of the bubble as well. Which is why for ANY shot at the tourney we need all those teams listed on that tweet in the bubble section to lose as much as possible.

I can't believe i am even saying that because we won't win another game so this is all moot anyway
