Lol, you're totally right, the worst Power 6 team in history would have been able to shut down a Top 8 offense and erase a 10 point deficit those final 2 minutes if not for those technicals.
Lots of hot takes on here last night.
Lol I think you need a hug

This is a good Iowa team for sure. They cause problems with their length and scoring ability with the two Murrays and PMac. But their liability as always is at guard. Perkins had the best game of his career last night and he’s a big, physical wing player that they’ve never had under Fran. Still that’s one game. They will be vulnerable in the tourney against a team with multiple athletic guards. If they play a team like last year’s Oregon they will struggle again.

Well, they've won 6 out of 7 by an average margin of 17.8 points including two blowouts of tournament teams. I'd say Settles is right and you're wrong.
4 of those 6 wins were against Gophers (net 97), Maryland (95) and Huskers x2 (187).

Ohio St game was a great road win and Michigan State is a complete train wreck.

They have a lottery pick and a ton of experience. That alone should make a team top 25. You’re absolutely right, though, as soon as they face a team with guards that can effectively attack the basket they’re in trouble. They also are awfully weak when it comes to interior defense.

This is accurate. They are definitely a tournament team though. Anyone that argues otherwise is unable to be unbiased.

Yeah I don’t think anybody is trying to make that argument after OSU and MSU.

Of their 10 big 10 wins, 7 have come against teams with a lower NET rating that WV (and 2 of the losses), the worst team in the big 12. Non con was pretty meh, I can see them getting in but Idk how they can be a lock right now. It doesn't make sense.

Well, yeah, I think that further proves Settles point. A characteristic of teams that are "hot" right not would be pounding bad teams.

He's obviously a Homer but he's right about Fran also. He won't win it, but he deserves serious consideration for COY, just as TJ should in the Big 12.

I dont think either fanbase would have expected them to be tourney teams this year.

Totally agree here. However, the reason they might be considered a lock is because of the media’s & sports pundit’s constant slobbering over the B1G each and every year. Michigan and MSU are NOT good this year. Maryland and Indiana (traditionally strong programs) are bad. Minnesota (who used to be competitive) is terrible. PSU, Nebby, NW are crap teams. Rutgers is vastly improved, but still an average team at best. Illini & Boilerfakers are also overrated - but solid NCAA teams. OSU is a jekyl & Hyde team. UW is a solid team. To Iowa’s credit, they have beaten up on the marginal to bad teams all year long and being 6th place in that conference automatically makes you an NCAA team.

Well I for one have to remember to be grateful. I would rather they continue with Fran putting good but not great teams on the floor every year than find out what Darian DeVries could do with that program.

I legitimately HOPE Fran gets COY. That’s extension time in Iowa City baby!!

Didn't EIU give him an extension last year? Fran is going nowhere, and why would he. Like Freerents he wins enough to keep most of the fan base happy, but has never won the conference regular season or the tournament.

Iowa doesn’t consider themselves capable of such feats and would rather be just better than mediocre and avoid the risk of sucking. It’s a choice.

Nah, extend him more. Or atleast Iowa should double his salary.
