It's ridiculous Chicago doesn't have a team that really dominates given how incredible the high school talent is.

DePaul never seizing on it really leaves a void. Baffling to me that NW and DePaul are usually horrible while Illinois isn't even ver consistent.

I would think it would be really easy to recruit at DePaul, they don't play way out in the suburbs anymore but still don't have a good on campus arena. I lived 6 blocks from DePaul for a few years right after ISU and it's a blast for a kid that age.

Even a program like UIC, you'd think you could get it going into something. Part of why Loyola's recent run isn't surprising to me, it's like a miracle so few teams are ever good.
Northwestern has the academic issue that they won’t bend on. Illinois problem is usually coaching. A lot of other blue blood schools heavily recruit Chicago so they are at a bit of a disadvantage. Seems like more basketball talent leaves the states then football talent

DePaul is really the head scratcher, they shouldn't be such a non factor. They were dominant in decades long ago.

UIC I think could be a better mid major than they usually are. I know nothing about Chicago State other than they are an easy buy game for everybody.

Just living in the city and being around those two campuses quite a lot (I was practically an honorary DePaul student in my early 20s) it always surprises me they can't make noise. Cross referencing that with the local news coverage of the insane high school players, just as true for girls players.

Nova is not looking great, more than just Delaware playing tough. Just hoisted an airball.

If they survive today...looking good if you had them loosing in next couple rounds.

I don’t want to try to give credence to iowas ball excuse but there are a bunch of teams that are shooting at an abysmal rate against average or worse defenses. Could just be the pressure of the tournament but it’s really weird

Murray State and the Dons going into overtime.

It feels like a bit of a cliche at times, but if you add in the Notre Dame-Rutgers game last night this might be the best 36 hours in NCAA First round history. Just such a high number of very, very close games.

I was traveling yesterday so I saw very little. Of course today is completely ho hum so far.

Yesterday we were Peacocks.
Today we are Blue Hens!

Delaware was dominating when they were getting Nova to speed up. Now that Nova is slowing it down they are taking control unfortunately. It looked like it was going to be a game in the 80s and now looking more like 50s or 60s.
