If I was being an ass about it I would have pounced on you when you first started doing it but I was nice and let it go. You are reading too much into it.
Alright apologies for calling you out on it. I do respect IZB. Just an honest mistake. Lol

If everyone but you is spelling it another way, maybe look it up to see if you are wrong or everyone else is wrong.
See, I've probably looked up his stats 15 times this year and still didn't pick up on it. Just one of those weird things where my brain never registered it even if it was right in front of my face.

Fair enough. Not a big deal. I am just sensitive about getting people's names right. I find it a big deal in the business world and that tends to spill over.

Sorry if I came across strong on it.

Nah you're good. I have a few people close to me who are horrific at names and it's a pet peeve of mine. Not spelling (which I'll obviously look closer at), but pronouncing the name correctly or just flat out get the name wrong.

If things are a bit more interchangeable including on D that will help next season.

CF this past season was something else when it came to wanting players out.

'Get Gabe out of there!'

5 minutes later when Grill comes in for him:

'Get Grill out of there! Why isn't Tre playing!?'

Tre gets in:

'Tre needs to sit!'

That is true. What we need is more stability at guard. Hunter's likely progression will help. BUT WE NEED SHOOTING! We also need Gabe, Grill and Williams to turn the ball over A LOT less than Hunter, Gabe, IB and Grill did this past season.

We can't continue to give away possessions with this poor of an offense

So he has Kunc both in the starting five AND in the key losses category.

Yeah, he's enough up to speed to put Williams in there, but misfires on Kunc and has Gabe exiting. Attention to detail Mr. Rothstein....

Is he the best? Is he even the best on the team last year? Anyway, it was often a net negative. 170 3P attempts on 23% shooting and bad A/TO. He deflated the ball a lot too.

We got by with Gabe being a high volume, high minute guy last year. He's helping establish the foundation of the program, but we really need him to improve or play notably less.

We played 3 guards at a time and judging by the roster for next year, that will continue. That's 120 minutes. Even if we add someone like Green, 4 guards could get starter minutes, although I think we'd probably see 5 be in the rotation.

Disagree. We were limited offensively last year. Get some better players around Gabe and teams must defend them instead of poorer offensive players we were forced to play last year. Leave it to TJ and staff to figure things out. Better offensive players to play with means Gabe won’t be forced to play with 3 guys who are almost zero threat and can be ignored. I expect a veteran starter like Gabe to probably start. Probably get less minutes per game. As we spread minutes amongst another player into the rotation. We aren’t replacing Gabe. We are replacing Tre Jackson and Jaden Walker. Two guys who were not Big 12 talent. They won’t be missed. But they gave their best effort.

Yes, get better players so Gabe does less. I agree. He either needs to improve or he doesn’t have the same role. Otherwise, it’s hard for the team to improve.

It’s clear he didn’t have the ability to consistently be one of the guys to carry a team.

You agreed, just didn’t understand.

Well you also have to replace Brockington. Likely not going to 1 for 1 replacement, but more a sum of parts. Gabe and Grill take a step, Williams > Jackson/Walker, and hopefully a transfer post >>> Conditt.

I have no clue if we need 'another' Williams transfer, or is what he provides similar to Jeremiah? But he sure does remind me of Brockington in 'some' ways. Athletic, but not the lead scorer on his team by any means, but ability to defend, experienced player. I trust TJ and staff if they feel he has the potential to grow effectively to help us. Afterall, they saw something in Brockington that maybe many didn't. Guessing there are intangibles like no ego and team first characteristics that our staff must see to take someone.
Not to beat a dead horse; but man, our staff will miss IB. Just because of how they frequently they shared how he lead this team in work ethic, practicing hard, among many other things.

The team will improve because we have trimmed reserves who should not have been in the rotation. Gabe will likely start IMO. Gabe shot almost 49% on 2 pt. Field goals. Gabe was a 3 pt. Option because of need. We had no one else consistent anyway. Tre Jackson and Jaden Walker will be replaced by better players. And with better players, if Gabe is not playing well, he will get reduced minutes.

Not sure this is worth asking, but what do we expect the time period to be for Gabe to announce if he's returning or not? Obviously, Kunc already did. Is Gabe still deciding or has the staff told him they will be recruiting the portal feverishly and he may want to wait to see the level of talent brought in? Whether that is from his end of it or their end of it, I couldn't guess.

Not sure where to put this, but Rothstein has ISU coming in at preseason #44. Has a lot of things wrong (doesn't know Tre, Jaden and George are confirmed to be gone), and that's not going to be the starting lineup, but that's a solid starting point if accurate.

44. Iowa State
Projected Starting 5:
G
Tyrese Hunter
G Jeremiah Williams
G Caleb Grill
F Aljaz Kunc
C Robert Jones
Projected Bench: Tre King, Tre JacksonJaden Walker, Eli King, Demarion Watson, Tamin Lipsey, Tristan Enaruna
Key Losses: Izaiah Brockington, George Conditt, Aljaz Kunc, Gabe Kalscheur
Key Newcomers: Eli King, Demarion Watson, Tamin Lipsey, Tre King (Georgetown), Jeremiah Williams (Temple)
Seniors Who Could Return: George Conditt, Gabe Kalscheur
Hell if TJ gets us 44th with that roster, that may be more impressive than what he did this year.

Tre Jackson to Western Carolina. And they are a terrible team in the Southern Conference. And he was in our rotation as a reserve. Gave his best. But not Big 12 player. Even as a reserve.

Lol.

You go as your high volume guys go. Gabe needs to improve or have his role trimmed.

Gabe, a 23% 3P shooter, didn’t take 170 3Ps because of need. That’s on Gabe and TJ.

Only KSU and West Virginia are behind us here. I'd like to think we will be better than 8th place next year, but we could be in for another grind in the league.

Almost 49% from 2 pt. Range. You ignore that. We were limited offensively. Few offensive threats on the floor. Gabe literally carried the team against Wisconsin. And shot about the same from 3 pt. his last year at Minnesota. And TJ pursued him to play for Iowa State. I expect TJ to keep Gabe if he wants to stay.

We went from 2 Wins to 22 Wins. Sweet 16. That’s on TJ and Gabe.

It's a worthless ranking with transfer season just starting. That said without a player receiving AC honors we aren't likely to be predicted out of the bottom half of the league.
