Soares played 30 mpg last season. In the final 12 games, she was at 34 mpg -- it looks like she was playing around 38 mpg except when she had foul trouble. I don't expect her to play quite that much here, especially when we have other established post options who can step in. But it's good to know she has the conditioning to play that much.

Growing up in Brazil with a Brazilian father and an American mother I wonder how much Portugese and how much English she spoke day to day.
I imagine she grew up truly bilingual. Even if her mom is fluent in Portuguese (which I'm guessing she is), they probably spoke a lot of English around the house, but she would have likely spoken Portuguese outside the house.

May actually have the posts to play big from time to time when required. Joens at the 3 with Diew at the two for a couple of minutes might be interesting.

From the article:

"He reminded her of what it means to play basketball as an act of worship." (at the Christian The Masters University TMU).

And now she wants higher things with aspirations of a WNBA career.

But why TMU over other bigger Christian schools? Because Soares Mother was at TMU in the mid-90's. I found that as a lot of what I needed to know.

And Soares, in Portuguese speaking Brazil, is pronounced SO-odd-deez according to this:
This will answer a lot of questions:

Is there indications her leg is ready to go?

Jordao now has someone on the team to speak Portuguese with.

Brazilians and the Portuguese have a (sometimes) friendly rivalry. If she wasn't so devout I would guess there would be some friendly s*** talking.

Seems to be a pretty good passer. Hopefully will kick it out to our shooters for open 3's.

This is awesome, I think now the final piece of the puzzle is an athletic 4 bruiser. Just to give us the option to match up physically with the upper crust on occasion.

Well at least she and Jordao can speak Portuguese to each other! But I do not know the differences that Brazilian Portuguese might have!

So is she is back to top form or "Ayoka Lee-type form" was my concern. I saw she did very well as POTY. Like Ayoka, they can be a star but as the game, or season, wears on things get a little tough and a fade occurs. She is slighter in build and less weight on a knee is good.

Well on the bright side, any output near 61 would be nice!

We finally have height plus quickness. We either needed a banger or a tall quick one.
