I like Greco, and think that training a bit of Greco and even wrestling in tournaments is a good thing. But, making a world team means that Greco will become the primary style trained and focused on for the next 3-4 months. Training will be at a high level at the OTC.

I think the track record for high level Greco guys, that aren’t heavyweights, is that they don’t have a lot of college success. Due to spending too much time not attacking, or defending, legs.
You are exactly right on all points. Most Greco stars weren't great college wrestlers. Always exceptions. But for the most part.

Food for thought. Gaitan went 77kg, 169.4 and Rojas is going 79kg, 173.8. Without knowing anything, I don't think 157 is in the future for their of these guys. They are going to be 165/174 kids in college.

I don't think anyone has considered Rojas as a possible 157. He's always been pegged as a 174/184.

As for Gaitan, I think some have wondered if he could make 157 for one season considering a Carr move to 165. He wrestled 160 as a HS senior. The next weight class down in greco was 72kg (158.7lb) so it could be that 157 is out of reach, or he just doesn't want to cut a lot of weight right now. Long term he's definitely a 165/174.

I am thinking Rojas at 174 & Gaitan at 165, then Naak at 184 and looking for a 197 guy.

Johnson at 149 & Kraisser/Robinson/Euton battling at 157

Brackets are out, no Gaitan in freestyle, Naak and Rojas can meet in the quarters

Everyone is heavy in the off-season. Rojas is wrestling well above an ideal weight. He is pretty short

Kraisser wins 15-4 round 1. Was down 4-0 going into 2nd period, got on top and had a bunch of gut rolls
