I was wondering about that. That stat could just mean you are really bad at getting first down on 2nd and 3rd down plays. Appears to be the case.

Not a chance. Name another season where expectations were as high as they were going into the season. To go from #7 to finish 7-6 was a monumental let down
Seneca's senior year. 7-1 (got hosed on the one) to 7-7 culminating with a loss on smurf turf.
How about going from #9 to 7-7 and ending the year on a cold smurf turf?
We finished 1-10 in 1997 and 0-10-1 in 1994. No, expectations weren't as high then, but to say these seasons were disappointing is a massive understatement. I had to talk myself into renewing season tickets every year throughout the 80's and 90's.
