Not wood but I tried my hand at pouring a pad last weekend for the first time. It’s roughly 16x16 which migh be enough to store all the kid’s ****. I think it turned out pretty well. Roughly 900 bucks after the concrete, motor buggy and forms which isn’t bad. No idea what someone would have charge to do it otherwise. The most shocking part was the 2x4x16s for the forms were 20 bucks a piece.

Next step is the fence and deck.

Anybody know what menards charges to deliver? Trying to decide if rounding up a trailer is worth it. The ones I have direct access to have sides or are enclosed, so loading pallets isn’t it the cards. I can get a flatbed from work if needed probably. I can get a dump trailer for the old fence.

Here’s the pad.

I would want to pick out my own fence pieces from Menards vs what they would send.

This x1000. Trusting them to pick out any building material for you is a good way to get burned. Been there.

How bad was it? It’s almost worth ordering some extra. I’ve got like 500 pieces that need picked up between posts, pickets and 2x4s.

20% I considered unusable (or atleast for the project I was doing, I cut a lot of it down and used it for something else)

You seem like the kind of guy that wants to do something right and not create a project that parts are cobbled together. You can use whatever they send you. Maybe you won't have problems (I hope you don't). But I would most definitely order extra or just plan on going back with your truck and getting boards that are actually straight, especially those 2x4s. Let us know how you come out. I am genuinely curious now!!

You should pick our own regardless where you buy, obvioulsy if you can. Menards is not known for having top line wood materials. I know builders that will charge you a premium to work with Menards products.

Yeah, I called around to a couple lumber suppliers and it was going to be about 75% more to get it through them as opposed to Menards or Home Depot.

That many pieces, it wouldn’t surprise me if you have to search through the entire stock they have if you want pickets that are remotely straight, possibly even hit up a second store. 2x4s and posts probably depend at what point the stack is in and how much it has been picked through already. (And this comes from someone that will go to Menards over Lowes 99 times out of 100)

Welp, it’s all here. I ended up getting the 2x4s and pickets from Home Depot (menards was way back ordered) and the posts from Menards. I’m not 100 percent sure how good everything is because the Home Depot guys loaded me while i watched and just had them take out the obvious crap. It’s way more **** than I thought it was after getting in on the trailer. I think the true test will be after it dries. I feel like I’m gonna be back replacing quite a few pickets.

Can I do relief cuts with a regular circ saw with a masonry blade or two or do I need to rent a big concrete saw. It would be two 16’ cuts.

There’s two of them there. We have three kids and I feel like we have 10 seats floating around. Wife says we gotta have pink for the girl.

Those are the fights I don’t want to have.

We poured that patio and I envisioned the grills, smoker, fire pit, building a cabinet/bar area, etc. it’s currently taken up with a pool and the kids toys. I guess I lost. Lol

Sorry to interlude in the thread but, we got wacked by a tornado in Dec. and have been doing clean up and have some distressed roofing steel if your into that type stuff some of the old school narrow ridge, some wider rib both in galvanized steel and some white wide rib.

This is off the roofs and has been sort of straightened but has holes from where the screws or lead head nails were removed.

If some one has some interest in this drop me a PM and we can work out a price.

Well sorry to interrupt your thread I enjoy following it though I'm not real handy.

Ha. I hear that. Literally just yesterday morning I was digging through my garage and made a ill-advised comment about several car seats that are being “stored” and not in use because my kids are older now. Apparently, I will continue storing them.
