People know what bridges are. Most people outside of Iowa dont understand what the 5 cent means on top of cans, Ive heard it from a lot, not understanding, why we do that.

People laugh at the bridge because we have people that think it is going to make a difference in Recruiting, or that it is something similar to a stadium expansion. So people laugh at them. Its just a bridge. We think its cool, but it is just a pedestrian bridge over a street. Making a big deal out of that of course people are going to laugh.

But if you worry about being laughed at, you must be a new Iowa State fan. Most ISU fans have some pretty thick skin dealing with it after a few decades or more.

Like I said, not sure its a great Idea, but not because Im worried about being laughed at.

A troll tricked you into agreeing with him about something completely ridiculous. He’s probably sitting in his basement laughing at you. Lol.

There used to be a pretty regular can crew around JTS but we haven’t seen anyone picking up cans in the tailgate lots for a few years now. We used to throw cans in a pile for them to come by and pick them up but ended up having to pick them up and put in bags at the end of the day so we’ve stopped.
Whether for this purpose or another I’d rather go thru less trash bags and have someone come around to pick them up and make a few bucks.

I don’t know how to phrase it politely.. so I’m going to leave this alone.

Back to the drawing board!

Now if @brentblum and crew want to pull up at every tailgate and ask for a donation - that would be acceptable and encouraged in my opinion.

I'll give them my empties. They can redeem themselves that way it will be good money that you like.

You're probably only talking about $5-10k total, that's if you picked up every single can consumed on a given game day.
Just for fun.

People are always going to find ways to come at Iowa State so what if we embrace it even more? Cyclone fans are proud of many things, including tailgating but how could someone who hasn’t experienced a Saturday outside of JTS understand to what level we tailgate?
A $10K GameDay can redemption would do a pretty good job of painting the picture of 61,500 Cyclone fans attending a game and pounding 200,000 Busch Lights before/after.

What if everyone just gave $1?

Sorry CF. Didn't mean to come off as a troll. Just thought it was a fun idea to recycle, raise funds and come together as a fanbase even if it was only a few thousand dollars. See you all in a month for some cyclone football!

The logistical cost of gathering, sorting, transporting to recycling center and counting said cans is going to be high, plus you have the same problem which makes stores not want to handle recycling, the sticky mess of it all. Don't think you will find volunteers to do it and paid people are going to cost more that the redemption value. I know no way I would volunteer for such a project!!

Have the players do the can pickup as part of their "charity work". That’s NIL, right? Instead of We Will...We Can....Just kidding.o_O:eek::jimlad:

Not exactly sure.
Just for even more fun..

What if everyone gave $1... and 20 cans.

Doubled that $1 pretty quick. And recycled 20 cans. But recycling is lame though so probably a bad idea
No way am I able to drink 20 cans and still drive home.

Other issue is that many places only give you 3-4 cents back now instead of the full nickel, so it would take even more for that dollar.
