He’s pretty political.I live pretty close to him and their kids go to our school. Yeah, he comes across as a real Munson.
The ask 5-0 is essentially propaganda at this point.
It's always been a little off putting that the guy who is in charge of media relations for the police is such good friends with the actual media.
Sure you have you have bitched about the 5-0 segment before. I mean you can piss and moan about kxno all you want. No one is forcing you to listen.Again, I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve never listened to the early morning show.

Sage and CW don't hold back on their political bias and you have no problem. He’s pretty political.
I think he's pretty fair with how he handles the media to be honest. Several times he's called out the pathetic excuse we have for a newspaper called the Des Moines Register for publishing some hit piece on the DMPD without actually fact checking their claims with anyone so he can be critical at times too. He really got fired up about some OpEd that they allowed to be published that was lacking in facts but published in a manner that the editorial board should have fact checked it with the DMPD before publishing as it was so it did not mislead people that what the author was claiming was factual.
He's in a tough spot, you want them to be transparent and have good public and media relations and part of that is doing a show like he does on the radio. Part of the problem too is that in order to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations he can probably only reveal so much too because he's said it before, the police only get 1 shot at getting a case right because 1 mess up by them and someone can get off the hook for a crime they committed. He's even mentioned before that there have been instances where the media was incorrectly reporting something on a story and he's brought reporters into his office to view some stuff off the record that he can't share publicly yet as a way to essentially throw them a bone and get them to stop falsely reporting on something until all the facts are made public. Sometimes it is to the benefit of law enforcement and the public to not put everything on the table right away until they have a suspect in custody or case built where revealing certain information too soon could be a disadvantage to bringing someone to justice.
Trying to keep this out of the cave with this comment but I feel it is relevant and I think our police sometimes get a bad reputation because of the way the media portrays them so it works both ways too with the media relations. Yes they are human too and will make a mistake from time to time and should be held accountable when they do but 99% of the time I am confident in the job they do and also trying to keep public relations good too. 5-0 mentioned something recently how every homicide case in DM this year they have arrested a suspect for and most have been in a very timely manner too so the detective work they have been doing has been good has not led to any cold cases so far as they have been able to collect good information to be confident they have the right person when they make an arrest.
Maybe, just maybe, the DMPD gets a bad rap because of their run of misconduct and lack of transparency addressing these issues. From falsifying reports, to planting evidence, to tackling civilians, to detaining reporters.Trying to keep this out of the cave with this comment but I feel it is relevant and I think our police sometimes get a bad reputation because of the way the media portrays them so it works both ways too with the media relations. Agree 100% on CW. Sage I have no idea.Sage and CW don't hold back on their political bias and you have no problem.

Ahh. The old boys will be boys excuse.
Also, if someone asked me about that at work, it would not be OK.
Apparently this is a dumb thing to say.... for whatever reason......Here's a thought to those who find offense to this type of radio show. Don't listen. No need to be a Karen.![]()
I dumbed it too, I think it’s completely fair to dumb it, and I did it for several reasons.Apparently this is a dumb thing to say.... for whatever reason......
I do think that people that approve of sexual harassment are likely to use the “Karen” put down however.I also don’t think criticizing him for being an immature man-child and potentially engaging in sexual harassment makes someone a “Karen”
