Meanwhile, WVU-Pitt set an all-time attendance record for Heinz field, with 71000.

It also killed it on the TV ratings. That should help the big 12's tv deal

Pac-12 seems dead already honestly on the field. The projected champ lost to Florida and Oregon got obliterated by Georgia.
You're talking like touchdowns on the first 7 possessions is bad or something.

It’s been dead for years.

Utah has an inflated ego from beating the corpse that is the PAC. In the Big 12 they would have been humbled like TCU and WVU

I know it's infinitesimal but anytime a Big12 team is on I watch or leave it on the TV....the 0.0001% ratings boost right??

I don’t want to be mean, apologies if I came off that way. Just for informational purposes, here are a few examples of how engrained the ocean/beach lifestyle is out here. A possible analogy, imagine if a place like Charlotte had a NASCAR event every Saturday and Sunday. NASCAR is engrained their DNA, the panthers better me damn good if they want to draw.

Surfing contest:

Amateur beach volleyball tournament:

Typical day surfing one of hundreds of breaks:

Just the beach, no special event:

Hawaii and Miami might be on the same level. No other place that I can think of in the US.

I realize it is labor day weekend and 1st game of season, but seems like any conference would be smart to "brand" Thursday or Friday night primetime game. Back in the day the ACC put a great game on Thu night and it was must watch for football fans.

I think it also shows people want competitive games. Not sure what the pecking order for Networks is in picking games, but have no idea why Fox showed OU v UTEP. I would much rather watch a Penn State v Purdue, Utah v Florida or Pitt v WVU than Bama, OU, OSU or GA every week.

I did find it ironic how ESPN was pumping up and celebrating this game, when they were the reason it went away for so long.

I have good memories of the weekly ESPN Thursday night Big East game. This was when Rutgers, WVU, Louisville, Cincinnati, USF were all really good.

Having lived at the beach and now in the mountains, I can say it ALL depends on what you enjoy. I love the peace and tranquility of the mountains, which was the same feeling as I had when I did my morning runs at the beach. It's just an older body now in the mountains.

Maybe TBS/TNT/Turner is an option for the Big 12? Sounds like according to this that Turner Sports wants to get even more live sports:

Doubt it… Everyone on here says we are going to Amazon Prime, Netflix, or Apple TV.
