Again missing the point. Blum has said MANY times the main objective of the we will collective is to take care of athletes already at Iowa state. Competing with Phil Knight and Oregon simply isn’t realistic. Blake said he wanted to go somewhere where he felt prioritized. Well he was #1 priority at Iowa state for 2 years and yet he picked a school with 6 defensive line commitments already. Doesn’t scream to me like he was really focused on coming here if that’s truly how he felt.
Doesn't scream that he's too bright either. You weren't kidding with the 6 d like commits

Sometimes a guy wants to follow family, sometimes they want to blaze their own trail.

We have to take that into consideration too, he may not have wanted to follow his brother here and be compared to him always. To go somewhere and make his own name.

It sucks but, you have to let it be what it is.

Bottom line is it all came down to $. Blake was more of a priority for ISU than Oregon. No different than R Mason Thomas ending up at OU.

Unless there’s someone I don’t know about, this was the last possibility in the 2023 class for a big name. Maybe there’s someone that we could surprisingly land, but this felt like our last possibility. Not trying to be an Eyore here. Just being realistic.
We will get some quality portal people. They're out there.

To jump in here, currently we have just over 700 donors to We Will. We’re grinding like heck to get the word out but it’s going to take a group effort in the short term if we want to be in a similar playing field as like-minded institutions. Want to be transparent but that’s where we are at.

Is the average donation size fairly low? I feel like 700 is a lot of donors.

Late to thread, but it would have been obvious he was going to a west coast school with a late 8:00 pm central time zone announcement. 6:00 pacific time makes more sense to make that announcement.

Unless I win Powerball, and maybe even if I do, ISU is never going to be able to outspend Oregon/Nike/Phil Knight. IF $ is a deciding factor - and we don’t really know that it was here - the good guys aren’t going to win.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that it was this way BEFORE NIL, too, and the last 5(?) classes have been pretty good. It’s going to be ok.
