I scrolled Twitter for 5 minutes and nebbie fans are already saying if Nebraska called Campbell he’d be there in a heartbeat but they have higher standards. They are so delusional.

Campbell won't go to Nebby but I would bet anything Trev tries to talk to him.
He absolutely will but Campbell will tell Nebraska to go pound sand for the same reason he told Tennessee no. Fans/media with unrealistic expectations and overly involved boosters.

There are jobs I fear Campbell will bolt for but Nebraska is not one of them.

I can't see Campbell going to Nebraska with their history of firing coaches. Look we can pay you twice as much as you make in Ames, but if you aren't winning 9 games by year two your head coaching carrier is over.
The problem with Campbell or anyone going to Nebraska is that they would have to work for Trev Alberts. He was a fallback hire as his track record at UNO didn't justify getting a Big 10 AD spot. The continued collapse of the football team this year is all on him. Either fire Frost after last year or actually support him in efforts to first take steps to change close loses into close wins and then build on that. Undermining the staff by dictating who should be fired and who should be hired is not the way to lead an athletic department.

The fanbase isn’t likely to be happy with whomever they end up hiring, assuming Meyer isn’t looking for one more ridiculous payday before hanging it up for good. If they do somehow get him, I’m guessing it’s going to look a lot like the Les Miles stint at KU.

They need to get someone who isn’t a sexy hire, but can get them back to respectability. Trev needs to set the expectation at getting back to a Bowl game in ‘25/‘26 and then keep the boosters out of the way. Frost was supposed to do a tear down and rebuild, but the foundation was never really laid right - they look the same this year as they did in year 1.

Would Urban go to Lincoln? I bet Alberts are ready to offer everything to him. Would Urban be so desperate to live in Lincoln?

A new factor here to consider when dealing with coaching vacancies is how much support is there at schools for players in the NIL space. Nebraska has generated more than $5M for its players and is thought of as one of the largest spenders. No idea if that’s a big consideration for Matt, but my guess is it will attract more high profile coaches.

Also a dig at Iowa, " Nebraska honors its contracts."
If I'm Nebraska I would actually try to hire the Kansas coach Lance Liepold. They are noticeably much much improved. The days of Nebraska getting the best talent from Florida and Texas are over so they need to have realistic expectations. They also no longer play a physical brand of football on either side of the ball. Kids went there because they had great facilities and were on tv all the time, but now everyone has nice facilities and on TV, so why go to Lincoln, Nebraska. Scott should have trusted his gut and stayed at UCF before he let his buddy Matt Davidson convince him to go back.
