I doubt anyone posting on CF has any credible source that speaks to CMC’s career inclinations including myself. Observation indicates he has great respect for coaches that built and maintained historic storied legacy programs. He is probably making more money now than he ever imagined but one never knows when it comes to where money ranks when in your forties compared to your thirties. We think he walks on water but Nebraska has different aspirations than ISU. I personally don’t think he will be high on their list. Mike Stoops, Matt Rhule & Bill O’Brien rank much higher IMO.
I think Mike Stoops is somewhat like Campbell. I think he’s pretty happy with what he’s built, and outside of a shortlist of probably Iowa and maybe a school like Alabama, I don’t think he’s particularly interested in leaving.

Pollard and CMC did an interview a couple years ago where Pollard stated that coaches can leave for more money, but it also brings a lot of other headaches, such as crazy fan bases and having a down year and getting fired. CMC agreed and said that quality of life and building up young men are the things that are most important to him, and money with instability and crazy people to work with cannot top that.

Albert's doesn't have a good track record with ISU going back to his playing days and will end with firing Fred.

Total douche would not be strong enough. Same when he was a CFB studio host. They lost to IOWA STATE?

I wonder a lot about Trev Alberts. Back when he was at Nebraska-Omaha they had the #1 Division 2 wrestling program in the country. They had just won the national championship and were driving back to Omaha when the wrestling coaches phone rang. It was Trev Alberts. He wasn't calling to congratulate him. He was calling him to tell him that Nebrakska-Omaha was eliminating the program. Just no class. Perhaps eliminating the program was necessary but to handle it like that was awful They also eliminated football that at the same time because Alberts thought it was best for the school to transition to D1 for it's mens basketball. They have yet to make the final 64/68 and only one 2nd place finish in their conference. And their average conference finish is 6th.

In other words as a coach thinking about going to work at Nebraska you have to understand that you're working for someone who handles business in that way.

There is a list of candidates and there is a wish list. What we see right now are more likely wish list

If this was posted, I missed it, but Dodd is reporting that Campbell has interest in Nebraska. That does seem to be a step up from the usual tactic of just blindly adding his name to a list of candidates for an open job.

Wonder who his sources are? Truly, CMC seems VERY tight lipped and wouldn't want anyone close enough to know that talking.

But, I suppose, a source now days could be something like a former assistant from Toledo or something saying something like "I know he would love a Big 10 job"

Who knows....lol. enjoy the ride.

It ended up being for the best financially. UNO made a commitment to go Division 1 basketball and hockey. They went to the Frozen Four not that long ago. They were able to build that in campus arena.

All understood and I have no problem with the decision to do all that. It's just the way he handled it was low rent. And yes hockey is huge there.

Testifying
Didn't catch the names of the hosts but XM ESPNU guys don't get why Mark Stoops would leave Kentucky. They agreed that Kentucky would win the B1G West this year so why leave a good gig.

Maybe CMC wants to coach another Purdy? Just kidding, of course, couldn't resist.
Just a little ticked we have to have coaching rumor mill season start this early. Stupid Nebraska.

I think you have to call BS when he said “several” sources have told CBS that Campbell is interested in Nebraska. I doubt CMC has intimated that to one source, certainly not to several. He’s not an open book on this topic.

One doesn’t just win the 6th grade softball championship and then just up and leave. It’s not the way he operates. Not stressed at all about him leaving. He’ll be coaching his daughter at Gilbert in softball next year and coaching Iowa State football as well.
