Can't see why anyone would think this is a bad idea. Yeah I understand there may be some slow times at this place and yeah maybe you might have to walk 5 more minutes to JTS from your parking spot. But giving fans a place to drop $$$ before all those basketball games and football games is huge for ISU. Will really improve the Hilton atmosphere to have something that close rather than make the cold trek over to campustown.

I'm sure this area will be buzzing for away games too and will have quite the showing for game watches. I personally can't wait and love that we're trying this out

Testifying
I was in Campustown after the SEMO game and my thought was it's a lot nicer than it was 10 years ago. It needs more, but Ames has always been hurt by the Campustown and downtown not being the same part of town. The only comparison I can make in terms of P5 college towns with the downtown and campustown separate are Stillwater and Manhattan. Manhattan has a nicer Campustown (its not a landslide though) but Stillwater definitely doesn't. All of them (and Ames for that matter) are plenty of fun. Ames has a better downtown than Manhattan.

The people shitting on it here are suffering from the classic "being too close" syndrome (you think what you have is terrible and the grass is much greener elsewhere). It has plenty of room for improvement, but the people acting like it's Detroit are just way off base.
The tough part about Stillwater that clouds my judgement was the last time I was there was the first time I had been in bars that still allowed smoking. It didn't phase me in college but sure is sensory overload now.

Plop me an Eskimo Joes type of place at this new district though and I'll be happy.

Stillwater's college bars are piss stained **** holes with loud music and drunk 22 year olds. I thought they were a blast, but it's almost identical to what you see in Ames. Not much to offer for a 40 year old.

"Hey ISU fan, you must be feeling great! Your football team is 2-0 for the first time in forever and you snapped a 6 game losing streak to your rival!"

"Hmmm, I don't know. I'm pretty concerned about the arm angle on Dekkers throws. Also worried about this Cytown thing. Have they seen how much restaurants in north Ames are struggling? Think of all the parking we'll lose!"

I don't know if this has been mentioned but last week there were some folks wanting to find a place to gather with fellow Cyclones to watch an away game - Cytown would be perfect for away game watch parties.
Absolutely. I’ve seen the way we congregate in KC, Orlando, Memphis, San Antonio…

A few other nuggets:
- Proximity to the alumni center
- Career fairs held in Hilton. Think of all the companies who send people in to town. I’ve recruited and it would be nice to walk over to a restaurant to digest resumes and/or host candidates for dinners close to campus

We want to be big? We have to think big.

Unless the layout has changed drastically in the last 6-12 months, JP hasn't exactly been top secret about it. You just have to pay attention.

Go back and watch his video messages from the last year. You can see a proposed layout in images that focus on the RV village and the new parking around Stephens.

Yeah, interviews in the great hall now are not the best (according to my son). Confusion to a point due to the way things are set up/blocked off. Mine were always in the placement office.

Why would being happy about a big win affect what you think about something else that is not related in any way?

Ames (Moville)
All of the negativity about this project is just laughable to me.

It is absolutely going to blow your minds, folks. There are big things being planned. The project isn't just an idea anymore. Jaime is slow-playing this all the way like he is known to do. They know they need to generate some revenue, and have a kick-ass plan to accomplish it.

I don't know, I guess I see the overall success of the football program and associated facilities development to be directly related to Pollards ability to lead and make competent decisions. If you don't see that ok.

I had an interview in the press box suite of Jack Trice that was setup from a career day booth visit. Only time I have ever been in that part of JT. Had to get my views in before/after the interview to not be distracted during it. In hindsight glad that interview did not turn into a job offer as it was for Maytag when they were still big in Newton then closed operations down just a few years later so dodged a bullet there!

Can't afford Johnny's access? How about a couple of $7 IPAs and an $8 order of cheesy fries to pregame instead? And you can walk right to the game in 5 minutes...

So if we hadn't beaten Iowa, or if we get upset by Ohio, Pollard would be less competent and people would be correct in questioning his facilities plan?

I'm intentionally being tedious, but these are legitimate concerns people are raising. I trust Pollard will do his due diligence and that his rollout of the project will alleviate most concerns. Doesn't mean it's wrong to raise them.

Seeings that Barta copies JP, when does Barta talk about tearing down the hospital to build one? Not that I’m in favor of that, just that he is dumb enough to suggest that.
