Infinitely better. Not even a question.
Not sure why they put the number on one side though. Just do both sides with the logo

Pollard pushed it because we blew a ton of money in it. Everyone hated it. End story.
Always wonder if that's why we never do throwback branding on uniforms. Because he's still salty everyone hated his bugle and that some still prefer previous logos over the current I State lol

At heart Jamie is still a bean counter. I think he weighs the costs of everything against the benefit. There are probably a lot of fun things that he has shot down. There are also a lot of tangible benefits to his penny pinching as well. Look at the facilities we have built/improved during his tenure. Sure we got much better TV deals during that time, but he has stretched those dollars immensely.

Didn't we pay some design firm like $50k to make that trash? Ranks up there with the farm family cy hawk trophy.
I talked with the designer who created the bugle logo. He had other concepts. Stronger concepts. The athletic department decided/chose the bugle. Not the designer's fault. Having non-design people choose/direct creative is at fault.

I doubt we’ll ever get a retro tornado logo after everyone trashed the last tornado logo they added to the helmet

I'd be curious to see the other concepts.

As a pro and ISU GD grad, you never show a concept you're not ready for the client to run with.

They always pick the worst one.

#options is not a good reason

The AD went against that reasoning when they put the I-State out there for a fan vote as the new helmet logo for the year. It was that one, a bad Cyclones cursive script and something else that I don't remember but was equally bad. It was clear to me that they thought they could steer everyone to the I-State and then trumpet it as giving the people what they want.

It could have backfired but the others were really bad.

The designer still came up with it and thought enough of it to propose it to a client. So, just because the designer thought there were better designs doesn't change the fact that he/she thought the bugle was good enough to present.

It's just terrible, and the fact it ever saw the light of day is embarrassing.

Yes. ... In retrospect, it almost certainly was "rigged," I-state clearly the preference of design process, put it in middle of two other sub-par options -- it's going to stand out -- then opening to a vote is good p.r.

Because the athletic dept thinks it wouldn't go over well or because Jamie's feelings are hurt and is going to hold it against us?
