Our apparel needs an upgrade or rebranding. I don’t mind the black and what not but ISU gear is not cool unless you are 60+. Feels crappy saying it but we’ve now been passed up by K-State

Pollard pushed it because we blew a ton of money in it. Everyone hated it. End story.
It's still used occasionally. Saw it on the board during recent volleyball matches. Also, it used at every home wrestling meet I attended last year.

Yes. ... In retrospect, it almost certainly was "rigged," I-state clearly the preference of design process, put it in middle of two other sub-par options -- it's going to stand out -- then opening to a vote is good p.r.

Ya this looks pretty rigged, it would be for any school.

Put an actual attempt in the middle, then choose main color for font, secondary for outline, capital letters for school initials with some serif script, then cursive letters for team name spelled out.

Generic as ****.

The bugle was not good. There are so many other ways to use an actual tornado as a logo. Our old school one was pretty classic.

If you want it to be more modern, even something like the old Arena League team the Arkansas Twisters had a better idea when using an actual tornado.

Black and white version of it

I think our branding should reflect continuity. A change at K-State could reflect a moving on from the Bill Snyder era and into whatever is next. I think stylistically the Power Cat has kind of had its day. I sure wouldn't mind a Cy helmet as part of a throwback uniform for a particular game.

I talked with the designer who created the bugle logo. He had other concepts. Stronger concepts. The athletic department decided/chose the bugle. Not the designer's fault. Having non-design people choose/direct creative is at fault.
Wow - appreciate the context!

Yeah. Gives me that sheepish feeling from Pollard, like damn I paid for this but I need to hide it...

I would love to see your examples of cool apparel and how you would rebrand Iowa State.

I didn’t mean for my post to come across as that critical but the gear just isn’t that exciting. Maybe I’m just a huge fan of the team issued gear because it’s unique and you can’t actually buy it.

I'm bored of being branded......You want a branding cluster? Look at what they have done to the wave song. This week: Imagine Dragons Believer.

It's all under control.

I think they both suck. As a fan I have never understood why we have no true identity logo wise. Maybe our identity is lack thereof‍♂️ I mean I despise Iowa but their logo is timeless and they have stuck with it. You can say the same about K-State since Snyder, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Michigan, Texas, Tech, etc. then ISU, changing logos when we change coaches it seems like.
