We beat a crap team. Was it nice to beat Iowa? yeah. But I think its fair to expect to beat one of the worst offensive I've ever seen in almost 40 years. It's obviously better than the alternative especially to end the streak and on the road.

As awesome as it was to beat Iowa and as awesome as it is to be up 37-10, people have the right to be frustrated about calling back to back timeouts against Iowa only to get stuffed on 3rd down and two blocked punts, etc. Or blocked PATS or a false start right after calling a time out today with the starting offensive line and then a shanked punt.

The idea that suddenly some of this stuff gets cleaned up by next week? That's not typically how football or life for that matter works. You don't just all of a sudden decide to do something right.

Yes, we are a very young team. Yes, going 3-0 to start the year is absolutely amazing and I am very happy to see that despite what a lot of people thought we aren't just going to fall off a cliff after last year's class graduated. And sure, I'm no Bear Bryant but I do have a background in coaching a tiny bit in college and more in HS even if I was probably a crap one.

This ISN"T, to steal Coaches' phrase, the best version of ourselves out at the stadium today. Which is incredibly encouraging. Just like winning last week - yes, against a bad Iowa team - but not playing great and winning on the road was encouraging. Blowing out Ohio with the multitude of mistakes - mostly mental - is ENCOURAGING . Yes. But we're going into week 4, into league play with a massive step up and some of this stuff has happened in every game. That is not so encouraging (yes, I'm looking at you special teams)

Look at coaches' body language - does he look happy? That's all I'm saying. I'm loving the 3-0 start but we run a serious risk of being 3-1 if we can't get some of this addressed by next Saturday. More of a big picture view.

Now the young defenders have looked good. Silas has been awesome. X of course was X, etc. Reeder looks really good. There's been plenty of good. But if we want to have any chance of doing more than 6-6 or 5-7... simply winning can't be good enough if you have bigger dreams. Its where it starts, duh, obviously. But how you win matters when looking ahead IMO

I realize there are kinks to be worked out, but…

I get the distinct impression we’re at the start of four years with a pair of really good kickers and punters.
Agreed - though Perkins I think does need to quicken his process but that hopefully is something that comes with time

Before anybody freaks out about Baylor being this insane challenge, that BYU team they lost to is getting absolutely shitrocked by Oregon right now 31-7 in the 3rd Qtr. Baylor will be tough. They always are. But we don’t have to be perfect to beat them. Just avoid really dumb/bad mistakes and we will be there with a real chance.

I will read, later. I value your passion. Nothing wrong with that.

Appreciate it. I value yours as well. This team is a lot of fun to watch - in a weird way I think that's why I get critical in a way. Because you can see the talent, the potential and it has a different feel. I don't want to over hype this group but we're overcoming stuff that doomed us in the past. It makes me think something special might be possible this year.
