How was the House of the Mouse?

It was good. We did 5 days total (3 Disneyland, 2 California Adventure), so we spent plenty of time in the park. Would have only done 4 days, but with the deal we had, the 5th day was free. Walked around D23 area outside a bit on the last day of the convention, which was our first day there, but there wasn't much to see outside of the gates, so that was kind of a bummer. Seeing Avengers Campus was pretty cool for the first time. I found the Spider-Man ride to be fun, but a bit underwhelming. Pretty much is a slightly different version of Toy Story Mania. However, we found the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, which was retrofitted from the old Tower of Terror, to be fantastic. It is an awesome update from its predecessor and one of my favorite rides in all of Disney now. The whole ride is like a fun party. The Radiator Springs area was beyond fantastic as well. As for Galaxy's Edge (Star Wars Land), it never disappoints. I've been to it multiple times at Disney World already, so it wasn't as new and shiny anymore. Rise of Resistance is still the best and most advanced ride of pretty much anywhere I've been. I also was stoked when my wife gave me the ok to purchase my second legacy lightsaber to add to my previous collection of one. I already owned the Rey one, which formerly was Luke's and previously Anakin's. This time I got the Darksaber. Not gonna lie, it is pretty sweet.

Been gone for a week, so finally caught up with last week's She-Hulk episode. While there are certain things about the series that still bother me, I'm still finding it entertaining enough and am into how different the series is from anything we've seen thus far. Pug continues to be the best part of this series, so any episode that has some heavy Pug is going to keep me interested.
I’ve been finding myself 30 second skipping through her dating shenanigans and it’s helped a lot. I just don’t care about any of it. The lawyer moments and plot points that drive the main story have been fine and keep me intrigued.

It’s not great no. Excited for some of this stuff coming down though. Holding out hope.
This far in.....I think this just is what it is. If it ever ties into the MCU in a really meaningful way I'll give it a watch but for now episode 5 is where I am stepping away.

I'm actually digging the mundanity of the series. Seeing our heroes have to deal with semi-trivial BS like dating, copyrighting a name, and figuring out wardrobe issues makes them more relatable. The Disney+ series are able to tackle those things in a way that they just don't have time for on the big screen. Plus seeing them deal with world saving events every time one steps on screen can be exhausting. Although, I hoping something does present itself as a big bad soon. There have been hints, but the road is getting shorter.

I dunno, watching heroes go through deaths of loved ones or having to give up relationships for the safety of the other person is relatable and much deeper than having to watch SheHulk struggle on Tinder. Self sacrifice hits harder to me. But maybe that’s where I am in life now as a middle ager.

Watched the latest episode for She-Hulk last night and this thing is finally hitting a tipping point for me, and not in a good way. I'm at the point where I'm asking myself the question, what is the point of this series? Are we here to make a good series and tell a good story or are we here to wage a war with twitter trolls and make a statement, because its feeling like they are more concerned with the latter? I get it, I hear some of the trolls out there too, and I'm okay with some fun meta comments or whatever thrown in at a few places, but this is getting ridiculous with how on the nose it is and how distracting it is becoming from the story they are trying to tell. You've got tons of people like me who are here, wanting to watch this show and be entertained, yet it doesn't even feel like at this point we are the shows focus. Its like being in a conversation with someone who is fighting with their boyfriend through text messages in the middle of your conversation, and then you are shocked when that person you are talking with loses interest and walks away.

All this isn't to say there isn't some good things in this series, because there clearly is, and I've talked about them already on this thread. I'm just hitting my tipping point on agitation. You wanna fight the trolls? Tell an amazing story that everyone is super into. That will shut them up. That is what I'm here for. Look no further than Ms. Marvel. Granted, while I was only so-so on the story they told, they at least gave us some amazing charismatic characters in which the audience has grown to love (Isn't that was the MCU is best at anyway?). Consequently, all this outside noise seemed to get less and less as the series went on. Anyway, I'm not saying this to raise some big political debate. I'm just venting my frustrations right now from someone who really wanted to like this series. Exhausted is what I feel right now being caught in the middle of a screaming match to see who can scream the loudest.

I've given up on D+ MCU shows entirely. They have to win me back with something interesting at this point. I'm very curious to see if it matters at all that I'm going to miss this stuff with future movies.

I enjoyed Loki, WandaVision and Hawkeye quite abit. So far for me they're hitting about half the time for me.

Yup ignore the trolls and create a compelling story with a strong plot. If you spend all of your time making thin story addressing trolls they win. They love the attention.

They are taking some of the real world and blending it with the comic world. Intelligencia is a thing from the comics that, on it's own, feels like Dr. Evil sitting around a table with all his villain friends plotting world takeover schemes. Mixing it with something like real world 4chan or Qanon, while clearly a dig at those corners of the internet, does make sense. A group of super villains that pride themselves on smarts more than muscle would know that turning public perception against the heroes is just as good as trying to punch them in the face. Encouraging a bunch of neckbeards to spout hate on the internet towards She-Hulk is a way to mobilize against her without revealing themselves. Addressing real world trolls in this manner is low hanging fruit to be sure, but that is absolutely a tact a villain would when you filter it through a real world prism.

Now with that said, throwing in essentially a bottle episode in the middle of a 9 episode season was definitely a bold move. I can't say I disliked the contents of the episode as it continues to show Jen's struggle with who she is and wants to be. Also, whatever choice she makes, someone always wants the other persona. It is more social commentary about constantly changing yourself to please people and fit in and ultimately letting others define who you are. She made some strides near the end of essentially reaching F it, this is who I am accept it or piss off. This is just going to make for a stronger hero when the true villain finally reveals themselves.

I guess I'm just getting too tired of everyone twisting everything to their whim to villify anyone who doesn't agree with them in the real world to be excited about it getting too close to that in the comic book movies. Anyway, those are just my thoughts and that is fine if you don't agree. Again, I'm just at the exhausted level with all of it, especially with stuff so on the nose like we are seeing in She-Hulk. Its just too distracting for me. Like Bos said, I think the net effect is going to be the opposite of their intentions when it is all said and done. All it does is feed the hate across the board. Anyway, I'll make this as my last comment on this matter, as I don't want this thread to spiral like things can. Appreciate how constructive everyone is always with their comments on stuff like this. You guys are the best.

It definitely seems like it's built in to these shows as a way to get positive press if the reviews aren't great.

Notice that House of the Dragon doesn't have a huge twitter campaign "Standing Behind" their actors. Why? Because the show is actually pretty good. It doesn't need the PR.
