Texas is a top 5 team. They went head to head with Alabama and their loss to Texas Tech happened because Tech went an absurd 6 for 8 on 4th downs.

Texas 31 - Iowa State 10.

I guess on defense, I would put more emphasis on rattling Ewers. He may be super talented, but he’s also a freshman. Force him into making some freshman mistakes and try to give our offense a short field.

Texas 40, ISU 16

Texas will have 2-3 deep passing scores. KSU should have had at least a couple long completions if not for the fumble into the endzone and receivers overthrown. Won't be able to contain the running game either. ISU's D has been good, but also lucky in some cases.

ISU gets three field goals and a defensive TD.

Not wasting my morning in front of the TV for this one.

Surprised how many expecting TX to put up over 30 on us. I don't see it. And I'm going to say the pressure finally comes off Campbell and coaches and team and we pull out a victory. Bye coming. Team lays it all out there.

I bet we are pretty close and the offense is better, but the D is getting worn down so we don’t keep Texas to a plausible baseball score like we did with the Kansas schools.

Texas - 20
ISU - 3

Offense does the same thing again and lays a dud with predictable play calling. Dekkers gets abused in this one and takes 6 sacks. Red zone turnover and something goes horribly wrong on special teams. Defense keeps it relatively close until Texas pulls away in the 4th quarter.
I bet you’re fun at parties

Texas has faced one good defense so far ('Bama). They certainly didn't light up the scoreboard that day, and watching that game I was not impressed with 'Bama's CB's at all.

We rank right behind 'Bama by a few slots nationally in total defense.

I'm just not getting how Texas is going to light us up like a Christmas tree Sat.

The Vegas line on this game IMO is way off. Even with our woes on O, I'm tempted to take ISU with the points. I actually did a double take when I saw it.

It's solely based on The Red River score. I've watched OU more than once this season, and I think they're an awful football team so Texas smoking them doesn't really impress me.

Also, I've said it once, I'll say it again: Bijan Robinson is the most overrated RB in college football. He gets all the attention because of the name on his jersey.

However, I can't go out and predict an ISU upset outright because of our struggles on O. But I think if we lose it's going to be close: a TD or less. Our D will once again play stout. And if our offense finally gets rolling, then who knows?

I mean, we all realize Texas lost to TTech a couple of weeks ago, right? That's not really a sign of some unbeatable juggernaut.

I honestly think they're a different team with Ewers and the team that lost to Tech didn't have Ewers.

Texas is about the only team we've been able to beat in our last 2 games against them that were decided by 1 score (2019 and 2020). But we are riding an overall 3 game losing streak in games decided by 1 score. I predict one of these streaks ends on Saturday. Unfortunately, it's probably not the one we want to end.

You mean like pressure him right away, try to get him rattled, and force some early turnovers to get momentum?

Ha! Not so fast my friend.

We save that for the second half, much like our hurry up offense.

First halves are just warmups really.

We are either going to try something completely new, and different, on offense and win.

Or we are going to get blown out. Especially if we don't pressure Ewers early.

At this point in the season, if CMC tries to just play Iowa style football, AGAIN, against a heavily favored and talented opponent, on the road, I really don't know what to tell you people. If that won't wake you up, nothing will.

Once again, I hope to be surprised.

Sadly, I think we are in for more arrogance and hubris

Until Brock and/or Norton are 100% healthy, its hard to see this team scoring enough to win a game.

Its hardest to figure what Tx scores. Our D has to do a lot better than OU, right? The problem is we can't score. So if we do 'well' and get 14-17, we 'slow' them down to 35? Thats still a cover.
Bleh.

Our running game has been anemic and we’ve not been able to get past the 30 yard line. Our defense is phenomenal but we’ve been lucky to play only a good passing or good running team, Texas will be both. That’s when a lack of speed usually shows up, especially in the secondary.

I don’t see Texas scoring 50 but they will likely put up 28 or more between Bijan and Ewers. Their defense has been really up and down but our offense is unfortunately well known right now and one dimensional.
