It was a cool play but my goodness do we love bringing this up at any and every opportunity
Probably because after 20 years it may still be the high water mark for the football program. We were wha5, 5-1 after that game, ranked number 9, and Seneca was all the talk as a Heisman front runner?

I would say the only thing that has come close was the B12 title game and Fiesta Bowl win in the 2020 season. But with all the Covid wackiness that season all of that comes with a big asterisk.

The best part about being there live was that everybody in the building and on the field could see the Wagner blind-side block coming...except for the poor dude that got wiped out by it.

Well its probably a top five play in the history of college football.
Can't really fault fans for holding onto truly successful seasons/bowl wins etc, if we hold onto a play in an ultimately m'eh season in the grand scheme.

Was fun while it happened though.

If ISU were a brand this play would be replayed quite often in a list of top plays, maybe ever.

Amazing start to the season. Wheels came off faster than a homecoming dress.
It didn't help that the last 5 games of the schedule were against teams in the top 10. No B1G west schedule to enjoy.

Hmmm. That made me review the 2002 results. 2 of last five were not ranked. MO and Connecticut (what a great day that was). Beginning with the Oklahoma disaster on prime national TV... when we played ranked opponents we were outscored 63 to 203.
That was one colossal collapse concluding with a loss in the Smurph Bowl.

I remember being at the game screaming "throw it away!" as he kept scrambling backwards. The play started around the 12 yard line and he is nearly sacked around the 25-30 then if it wasn't for Wagner's big block near the end he probably gets stopped back around the original line of scrimmage. Unbelievable play in hindsight but most guys who would have tried that probably wind up sacked for a 10-15 yard loss.

Name 5 better plays

The Play, Kordell Hail Mary, Flutie Hail Mary, Bluegrass Miracle (LSU vs Kentucky), Boise State Statue of Liberty, Crabtree Catch vs Texas, Vince Young run vs USC.

And those are just off the top of my head.
