Did he slip up here, or am I just not understanding the quote?
First he says he didn’t discuss NIL until he committed but then says NIL was getting bigger at each school he looked at?

Zero percent,” Hunter said on Wednesday when asked what role NIL played in his decision to transfer during the Big 12’s men’s basketball media day in Kansas City. “That narrative, it was crazy. I didn’t know how it came out. I never even talked about no NIL with Texas until after I committed. That was just little opportunities. I felt like that came with any school I went to. NIL was getting bigger and bigger as schools go along. My main focus was to get to the next level and player development.”

The old double negative trick. If he never talked about no NIL doesn’t that mean he did talk about NIL?

I think it was about half NIL and half TJ's playing style.

Who wouldn't want to play for a team that scores 75-85 pts a game instead of 45? Yes, I have no idea what the actual numbers are for pts/game for Texas vs ISU.... so no idea if those are even close to correct. But the point still stands.

The point stands that he's not leaving because of some far fetched vision of every other team scoring like crazy.

On the season:

Texas: 68.8.
ISU: 65.6.

Conference:
Texas: 67.2
ISU: 63.4

At beginning of the fourth quarter here's the combined line for two NBA point guards in one game from a school that can't get players to the NBA as a point guard. This just happens to be one game to open the season and only from pure point guards.

28 points
10/19 shooting
4/6 3 point shooting
10 assists
10 rebounds
2 steals
47 minutes

Morris best +/- of any player in the game.

Will update at end of the game.

Don’t put THTs stats in, he’s doing about as well (not very) as many of us expected. Still stuck under 10 per game on a decreasing efficiency each year and sub 28% three. Some guys can have incredible athleticism but that doesn’t mean they’re going to keep developing.

Yeah, we couldn't shoot the ball last year but every team played such ridiculous defense that nobody was going to light it up. If we didn't suck so bad from 3 we'd probably around that 68 point mark too but nobody is going to score drastically higher night in and night out just in conference play.

It's part of the reason the entire non conference season was like playing JV teams compared to B12.

We could call him a point guard...the minutes he did get with Lakers last year you could call him the point guard at least how they were using him.

It's just hilariously silly that Monte and real Tyrese are starting against each other on opening night the day after Hunter said you have to leave ISU to make the NBA.

ISUs offense was ugly last year. I wouldn't want to run it either. Did what we had to to win games, doesnt mean it was an enjoyable experience.

I thought with his length and feet he'd be better off but he was streaky at ISU and I'd guess that continued or he just flattened out.

Still think him going early was the right choice since the opportunity was really good.

Are Wash and Ind fun teams to root for? I kind of like the starters I recognize on both squads.

I really don't know yet other than they've both struggled. Haliburton is fun to watch no matter what, just a unique gifted player. I watched some of his Kings games just to see him.

I think Morris might have got dinged up. He was having a decent game but went out mid third and never came back. Just followed box score, didn't watch or listen.

The Nuggets were really fun to watch with Jokic and while Beal is a talent I can't see myself following as close as I did his Nuggets years. It is a cool story that Monte started an NBA game with his childhood friend Kuzma.

It's just hard to keep up with all these starting Cyclone point guards in the NBA not named Hunter.

He was partially responsible for ugly offense. He has to improve so much to make to the NBA, especially his shooting. He has a terrible shooting mechanics

Maybe THT doesn't get much further, but after next season (I believe guaranteed contract) he will have made $30 million before the age of 24!

THT had to play with Lebron and the crappy Lakers. Im confident he will be more consistent this year away from LA.
