I don't know how you 'don't enjoy the taste' of 'alcohol' when there are 9 millions types. That said, if you tried to drink swill and it turned you off, that's fine, and maybe better anyway.

I've varied quite a bit over time but make sure there are several days without at this point just to keep it reasonable. Often only one or two anyway. The only real problem is the extra calories.
I definitely don't need to be drunk ever, and mostly can't get that much down anyway.

I'm an alky so I don't drink at all anymore.

But one a night I don't think is anything to worry about, a lot of people enjoy a nightcap.

Only thing I'd worry about is if the volume increases, as it becomes more ritualistic. When you don't necessarily want to but do anyways as it's part of your nightly routine like brushing your teeth, I'd revisit the question.

Zero nights a week on average, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with the amount you are doing as long as you are relatively in healthy shape.

While occasionally on weekends, almost nothing during the week.

About where I'm at.

I hardly drink including the weekends but for fall/winter sports season I tend to have a few beers watching games.

On another note I tend to have a few beers while camping; on my last north woods trip this summer I didn't drink a drop and heightened my general nature experience.

No. In fact 1 a day is good for your heart like baby aspirin. Now if its a 12 pack 7 nights a week, probably not healthy. I drink 2-3 most nights, and on weekends more.

As my father used to say, you've got to lose your mind every now and then to stay sane.
Just for the record having a drink once a night isn’t bad for you but the effects to your heart health are very suspect. I would also never recommend that a patient to start drinking once a night to improve their cardiovascular health.

So is the 'one glass of wine a night is good for the heart' outdated advice?

For a while I was having my daily Coffee & Baileys, but I went back to straight black coffee. So zero days a week. If there is a social event I’ll have a quality neat scotch.

For the most part yes. There are studies that show some extremely minor benefits of one drink but those same studies also say that if you have more then one the benefit goes away and if you get to moderate drinking that actually starts harming your cardiovascular health. Harvard medical journal put out an article on this last month because the pandemic saw drastic increased in alcohol consumption and our understanding has improved.

Feel free to drink one drink or even 2 depending on your gender and size, but many people in the medical community have switched to edibles over alcohol. (Pandemic years didn’t count)

Way up there
During the summer due to yard work and sand vb, I'll end up drinking 2/3 nights a week. After September, I rarely drink again until the spring.

I work in a pretty stressful corporate job. It’s not the best, I drink 7 nights a week, but never go over 2 drinks per night.
So 14 drinks total for a week. Which I believe is still within surgeon general guidelines for men?
I’m also a marathon runner, so take that as you will.

I will have more in the summer because a beer after yardwork/garden work hits the spot for me. I'm also more weather social, I love a good patio, cocktails, chips and salsa with friends, etc.
Winter time I just can't get into light beer too much, I prefer darks, and those are heavy. Bourbon on a cold night is good though.

All in all I probably average 4-5 total drinks a week.

This thread is either full of tea totalers or i drink too much.
I personally keep the outliers out of my 4-5 drinks a week. Outliers like tailgating, ragbrai, concert, etc.
