He didn't like being the only true point guard here. If you want to play in the NBA you better show them that you're a good point guard, because you definitely won't be playing any other positions. I don't know how going to play with another point guard is going to show the NBA anything.
Bingo. He's a really athletic kid for his size, no doubt. But IMO, his handle is average at best by big 12 standards. Maybe you can give him the benefit of the doubt he will see the court better with experience, but his shot is obviously a red flag. He also seemed to have butter fingers at times securing loose balls and maintaining possession in traffic.

He has the tools to be an NBA level on-ball defender on the perimeter, but his lack of size is going to make him an easy target for mismatch actions to get him in the paint.

Weird.

Congrats to the kid for going full heel turn. This didn't have to be an ugly split. You didn't even have to say it was the "money". Just say some vague nonsense about having to make the best decision for your family or something.

I certainly wont shed a tear if he gets lost in the numbers game at Texas, or if he gets recruited over by Beard.

NBA GMs keep receipts. Georges Niang wouldn't be in the position he's in if he "spoke his mind fr" on everything he could. Positive outlook, growth mindset, building up his teammates and playing his role.

Real ones.

We may want to consider that he might have been pushed by the Texas program PR people/coaches to say something about it and they didn't like the idea of him saying that he got a nifty NIL deal offer while he was still on the ISU (in conference foe) roster and not yet in the portal. So they over compensated and told him to say it had nothing to do with NIL.

Just a thought.

Agree. It’s also very big right now to keep NIL amounts and usage very quiet for a lot of reasons. First is you don’t want to get into public bidding wars. Second is you don’t want teammates hating each other. Third is you don’t want recruits knowing how much they can keep pushing upwards for.

This is a good example where we’re going to struggle though. When another team is willing to pay literally 20x what we can, that’s going to be hard to retain developed talent. That’s where culture is going to be critical. You could say it’s 5 star culture vs high 6 digit figures.

Anybody that knows people involved in the transition (on both sides of it) know it was 100% about money. I wouldn't say that if it wasn't 1st hand knowledge to many because I like Hunter as a person. He gave ISU a number that they couldn't even dream of meeting. He went to the open market and got that number met. His handlers made a very big deal of it.
Almost feels like Jared should take down this article then. It’s like a fake news/PR stunt from the Hunter camp that CF is furthering. Not purposefully mind you - I’m not accusing Jared of anything.

His "reasoning" is contradictory. He left because he wants to showcase his skills but he also doesn't want as much weight on his shoulders. Huh?

That's all BS. Hunter knew that Lipsey was going to come to ISU. He also had to know that TJ is a mastermind in the transfer portal to find another way to get a backup point guard. These are all lies.

Hunter is dead to me at this point. I really don't care if he succeeds anymore or not. Everyone knows he's all about the bling bling.

He probably wanted out of Ames and to move somewhere trendy like Austin.
Ames and the state of Iowa is not for everyone.
Just another negative tail wind from Steve Prohm.

I honestly would have gotten kicked out of that press conference for laughing so hard and loud when Hunter said that.

I know it'll never happen but I'd prefer if the Hilton crowd is just silent for T.Hunter during his vist(s). Nothing is gained by me as a fan for booing him. Plus, then he doesn't have any "hate" to fuel him. He'll just see that no one at ISU cares about him one way or the other now that he left.

It's going to be the students that go after him hard and you won't be able to sell them on anything else.
