Lots of "script" helmets in the last few years, but especially this year

Gosh, what I would give for a "Cyclones" script helmet this season - maybe this, but in reverse (cardinal helmet, gold script) - that may be a bit muddy, may require a white outline or drop-shadow

Obviously, this the best we could hope for (stripes optional), but I don't imagine we're getting gold lids this year (or any time soon...)

Even with this relatively tough season, I have enjoyed the Renaissance of Cyclone Football in the Campbell Era. If they come out in the Walden Era uniforms, I might have a case of PTSD! / sarcasm

That helmet is so ******* awesome and the fact that we don't have a throwback uniform with that helmet is criminal.
ISU lost A LOT of games in those helmets if memory serves. But the truth is, until recently, ISU lost a lot of games in most helmets. I suppose if winning teams were the determiner of throwbacks, we could only wear stuff from the 1970s and maybe the early 2000s.

Exactly. Even if we didn't go full throwback we could do something modern with a similar look.

Historically, ISU has lost a lot of games but has usually looked pretty solid while doing so.

Half the NFL has better throwbacks than current uniforms.

And the other half are already wearing a classic look.

Teams that should "go back" --

Dolphins -- nothing wrong with those 70s uniforms
Patriots -- Pat Patriot and the red and white please
Jets -- the Namath era uniforms were perfection
Jaguars -- their original 90s look kicks the snot out of their current ones
Titans -- the Air McNair look was better than this look
Broncos -- better with orange, but even better with the "Orange Crush" look
Commanders -- should have used a lighter touch with the update
Falcons -- their throwbacks are so good and their new ones are so bad
Rams -- there was no need for an update/redesign of their classic look
Seahawks -- the blue/silver was way better than generic navy

Might be some others, but those came to mind thinking through the divisions.

Also give me the Bucs creamsicle's back.

Arizona going back to the St. Louis Cardinals style uniforms would be an improvement as well.

I like their 90s red-and-pewter look. Certainly better than that awful redesign about ten years ago. I would be happy with either but would love the creamsicle to be a throwback as often as possible if you assume you have to keep the current look as the main look, which is probably going to be the case.

I agree a simpler, more stately look for the Cardinals would be an improvement, but I've just never been impressed with that brand, those colors, or the name. The "Cardinals" are a baseball team. I wish Arizona would rebrand to something more regionally appropriate, like say the Arizona Firebirds.
