I like them too. If we are going to insist on using the “I” in the logo that ISU helmet looks so amazing. They seemed to even grant the power to win over the Hawkeyes when Chizik was here. Please bring those helmets back

Luther….Blue! To put the win @ Nebraska in 1977 in perspective...Alabama went 11-1 in 1977, which included beating # 1 USC @ the Coliseum (21-20) and ended by beating Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl (35-06). Their only loss was @ Nebraska (24-31). The loss @ Nebraska cost the Tide the National Championship. Way to go 1977 Cyclones!
It is funny you cannot find footage of that 1978 game in Iowa City. That was achieved with a backup QB by the way for those who don't know.I attended all those games you just mentioned and I especially enjoyed trouncing Iowa, in Iowa City...31-0!
HellsBells the hoks could barely get over the 50 yard line and never came close to the end zone!!
The 1977 game in Lincoln NE was great sitting among all of those Husker fans while we won 24-21!!
The 1976 game in JTS WAS STILL THE HARDEST HITTING GAME I HAVE EVER SEEN! Players from both teams would come off the field either limping or holding an arm, THAT MY FRIENDS WAS THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED AT JACK TRICE IN MY OPINION!
Earle Bruce was the greatest coach we ever had with three straight eight win seasons!!
...and remember GO CYCLONES!
Walter Grant threw an eighty-yard bomb on the first play of the second quarter and the game was over from there. I don't remember the name of the receiver. Stan Hixson? It is funny you cannot find footage of that 1978 game in Iowa City. That was achieved with a backup QB by the way for those who don't know.
Stan was a good guy.Walter Grant threw an eighty-yard bomb on the first play of the second quarter and the game was over from there. I don't remember the name of the receiver. Stan Hixson?
I think you're correct, Hixon #41.Walter Grant threw an eighty-yard bomb on the first play of the second quarter and the game was over from there. I don't remember the name of the receiver. Stan Hixson?
Donny, Jim and Jim sure did prove that vocal group wrong….And even then, there were still a vocal group of fans who hated him. Called him "Old 8-3 Earle" after that three-year stretch, as if they were entitled to something better.
Earle could coach and learn and had things rolling.Donny, Jim and Jim sure did prove that vocal group wrong….
I know there has been a lot of friction with the team recently. I thought I would post something positive. This guy is truly a Cyclone legend who is still the only one that achieved:
1. Three 8-win seasons in a row
2. Two victories in consecutive seasons against Tom Osborne's Cornhuskers
3. The largest margin of victory over the Hawkeyes in the series, 31-0.
I would love to see CMC reach and exceed all of these for the record.
For anyone who was not around or doesn't know the story of Earle Bruce here is a great summary from when he passed away:

Earle Bruce: A legendary coach at Iowa State and college football
It could’ve been a game against Iowa or a game against Nebraska or any game on the football schedule — former Iowa State football coach Earle Bruce was ready to play. He would have a smile on his face and a passion to win every single game, whether it was big or small. That’s the...iowastatedaily.com

Wasn't Tom Boskey and Mike Stensrud ABSOLUTE BEASTS!You all are bringing back lots of memories! I was always fond of the defenses we had in those days. McFarland, the Boskeys, Stensrud, etc. they were beasts!
It was great in 1977 to see all these people in RED PISSED OFF! This Husker fan said to me..."This is the stuff we have to put up with when we play Oklahoma!"The win in at Neb, no one gave them a chance, was one of the best games I have seen. It was great to be there and see the Big Red fans reaction
Let’s not forget Ron macfarlandWasn't Tom Boskey and Mike Stensrud ABSOLUTE BEASTS!
Just tremendous. And Maynard; and Kevin Hart! Rest In Peace Kevin. It was great in 1977 to see all these people in RED PISSED OFF! This Husker fan said to me..."This is the stuff we have to put up with when we play Oklahoma!"
