I'm mind numb over all the football problem talk ... and yes, I contributed to it.
Let's switch gears and talk about what it's going to take get our first conference win this year and positive momentum. Where is WV weak? Their strengths?

Iowa State can match any team in the Big 12 with defense. If the offense adopts a similar approach taken against Texas and limits major mistakes to two or less, it will be a 10–14-point Cyclone victory. That also factors in a few coin-toss officiating calls going against the team. It is an opportunity for a win.

From what I have seen of WVU is they can pass effectively on mid and deep routes. Their D-line is equal to ours if not better. They will use the same formula they used last year to beat us, because Manning will run the same offense that we did against them last year. I hope I am wrong, but they are better than they were last year, and we are not. I do not anticipate a different result.

I expect another game where we try to throw 40 or more times...the question is always how deep and varied are they, as well as how accurate. These 2-3 lost TO games are getting old.

WV is really hot or cold this year so it’s hard to know which we’re going to get.

We know our D will be ready and capable of keeping the score down.

I’ve actually been fine with ST the last couple games. The fact that they haven’t been relevant is what we want since they’re not going to be great.

It’s all going to come down to how low we keep their score and how ****** or not our offensive game plan and execution is. If we play the script we did against TX, I think we can win. If we don’t, it’s a coin toss.

I'd probably take a coin toss at this point.

I don't think we win, I think we are broken.

This past weekend was the time to see some real upward trajectory and it just didn't happen.

The rest of the season is just seeing what they can muster up and find any traction at all.

We lose 24-13. We aren’t capable of scoring more with ******* Manning calling the plays. I expect 12 plays up the middle for -10 yards. 7 screen plays for -22. I won’t comment on the second half.

I think we get something figured out in the run game and that relieves some of the pressure on Dekkers. The defense continues to do its thing and we get the W.

I feel like we'll be have a shot, but find a “creative” way/ways to fall short — nothing major, but just enough to tip the scale. Additional hunch, some area that has been a hindrance goes relatively well (random e.g., maybe rushing game is productive) but we stumble in a place that hasn’t been an issue (I guess that’s a limited pool, like defense has unusual # of lapses).

WVU’s best offensive player (Donaldson) is now out for the year. They seem dinged up.

With that said, we’ll find a way to screw something up. If the offense makes plays and plays mistake free, special teams will have a blunder or two (or vice versa).

We cannot get out of our own way.

20-13 WVU.

This is probably the first time going into a game in probably 3 games where I feel somewhat decent - not sure if that’s apathy or hope. With WV being somewhat beat up and our D playing lights out, we shouldn’t need more than 20 pts on offense. Obviously that’s well above our league average, but SHOULD be incredibly easy against WV.

Yes, should have been against some other defenses as well.
