The public perception (fueled by media) is a graveyard but in reality I don't think that's the case anymore. Facilities and fan support are there and we are not in a recruiting hotbed but I don't believe that should be a program killer.
It's not if you can pay for the players now. We can't.

Grow up.

People are allowed to criticize Saint Matthew.

Have a degree from ISU, used to be a significant donor when I could easily attend games, even had courtside seats for basketball for a couple years.

A true Hawk troll would be one that sees what is happening at ISU and doesn't want to see changes made. Either during the season with the current staff changing methods and tactics (sadly, that passed), or personnel on the offensive side during the offseason, and absent that, the head guy. Because this isn't working and is not going to work moving forward.
Yeah, Matt definitely hasn’t coached ISU out of a hole before.

Say ISU wins 2 or 3 games to finish the season, are you going to give him credit?

Don't you get it? That's exactly the problem. We should have lost the Iowa game too, and the KSU game by another touchdown.
Your takes are horrible, and you're already getting on my nerves. They should have beaten Iowa by a 24-7 type score if not for all the stupid turnovers and mistakes.

Absolutely. He's the head coach. I hope he does win all the games he coaches at ISU.

My biggest hope is that we see some new wrinkles, some no huddle, some up-tempo stuff. Some rollouts with multiple deep routes. Misdirection. Trap plays.
Some new sets, including 2 TEs and a FB. Pass out of that formation.

Anything to spark the offense and get some positive momentum. ISU should score 40 on West Virginia with our talent.

Solid programs (in year 7 of the head coach) that are building and making progress don‘t go from an orange bowl to winless in the conference in less than two years.

It’s more than a down year, it’s last place in the Big 12. I like Cambell, but FFS this isn’t looking good at all.

You either acknowlege that or you just have ‘faith’ that CMC will turn things around. I graduated from the Iowa State University of Science and Technology so I put facts over faith.
Fiesta Bowl not Orange Bowl, but I appreciate the Freudian slip! :)

People dogging Campbell for being too loyal to some coaches have to realize that the same loyalty and relationship is what keeps Heacock here.

Also, there hasn't been a reasonable argument to fire Manning or Myers before this season, so I don't know why people are just jumping to the conclusion that Campbell won't make any changes. He did after the ND game in 2019.
I would strongly disagree with this.

Yes.

Myers fell into the job being a former Campbell player at Toledo. He didn't have any coaching experience prior to getting the OL job. After 2.5 years I think his grade on coaching the unit is a C -

Case in point, we are getting plenty of guys into the NFL the last few years. None of them are OL though. That's a development problem, a coaching problem, and a recruiting problem.

“******** programs care about 6-6.” - some coach

In fairness, while I think some criticism is deserved, even if we get to 6-6 I would guess that campbell would still view that as not good enough. He'll be happy they rallied to pick up a few big wins but won't think of it as a massively successful season.

I’d like to believe that, but there’s a significant gulf growing between Campbell’s perception and reality. I think that press conference last year when he said winning the Big 12 wasn’t the goal — which was a lie or delusional — was when this iteration of Cyclone Football jumped the shark.

I have to agree with this one. We beat up Iowa pretty badly other than on the scoresheet. Take away that awful first punt and Iowa wouldn't have gotten a single point. Endzone pick was horrific as well. You could also add on Rus hitting Brock on the endzone fumble. This should've been a 24-0 win at least.

Problem being that the Iowa game isn't some anomaly.

Fans are so stupid. One only has to listen to Campbell speak occasionally to know 90% of what he says is to the benefit of his players. I wouldn’t call it coach speak is much as players first speak.

The comment last year didn’t mean he didn’t want a conference championship. And it didn’t mean that isn’t his goal. It was to protect his players. He didn’t want THEM to feel like it be perceived as failures. He also didn’t want them to pack it in and give up.

Anybody besides me find this thread somewhat disgusting? Get a grip.
Anybody besides me been a fan for 50+ years?

CMC is a great coach. Cares about his kids and develops them as young people. Has upgraded the program. Recruiting, although not top 10, has improved significantly.

Seems like half of you are ready to fire CMC for losing 5 games by a handful of points. Of course it’s disappointing, especially how some of the losses happened. Some of you need to know we have had many seasons where we lost individual games by 40,50 60 points - more than our total deficit this season. Those teams were an unacceptable product - this team is not.

Yes - there are things that need attention. I think Matt deserves (has earned) the right to time to get them fixed.

Go to the games, cheer, be proud and recognize there will be some ups and downs / we ain’t Alabama.

We had the best 5 year stretch of Iowa State football that had ever happened. We had a stretch that I was unsure could ever happen here. WE WERE THE SECOND BEST TEAM IN THE BIG 12 OVER THAT 5 YEARS.

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure why everyone assumes Campbell is ok with this season. And I’m not sure when we turned into such an entitled fanbase.

The last 5 games have sucked. The offense is really bad. I think that changes will need to be made. I’m just not sure why so many of you are so sure they won’t be.
