As much as I like the Pat Patriot logo, the uniforms, and color scheme, one thing has always bothered me about the uniform:

If they're the Patriots, why are they dressed like the redcoats?

Thought process here: avant garde! And true.

The uniforms sure looked very orange during some of the broadcast on ESPN+ yesterday.
It did look bright-red (borderline orange at times) ... I don't think it was a broadcast thing (directly) ... I assume(d) it was how sunlight reflected during the game's time frame (and where the sun was in the sky in relation to the field).

This article here lists the finalists for the Patriots' name as Minutemen, Bulls, and Patriots.

I think they made the right choice of the three. Some of the others range from pretty good (Colonials, Shamrocks) to silly (Beantowners, Puritans) to not fit anymore for 2022 (Braves).

Solution -- Patriots keep their navy-and-silver Brady-era color scheme and the NFL expands to London, calls the team the "Redcoats," and gives them a red/white/blue or red/white/black reworking of the old Patriots uniforms so we can enjoy both and watch the Redcoats play the Patriots.

Dude, it’s ridiculous. We are so close yet so far away. USC figures it out. The niners figure it out. Earle Bruce figured it out. Donnie Duncan figures it out. It’s exhausting.

They probably did all of the camera settings in the morning, when it was gray/overcast. Then the sun came out later and they didn't get dialed back in to the different lighting. Having half the field in shadows for a late-afternoon game is also a real PITA.

Could use a gold pants option...

Throw in a gold helmet while they're at it...
Yeah, FFS, our school colors are cardinal and gold. Not cardinal and white. Not black and white. I like alt unis sometimes, but is it that freaking hard to get a base look that is solid with our actual school colors. And I'm sorry...a coach should not be mandating that a certain school color be used only sparingly. Do cardinal and gold and do it right. End rant.

And why don't they have rifles and buckles on their shoes?

I've always thought the Chiefs have done a great job using red as the primary with yellow as an accent. The Blythe and Meyer era uniforms were pretty close to that color model with the white numbers and a yellow outline on the red jersey. I think our current red uniforms would look sharp with white numbers and the yellow outline.

If WKU can put a blob with eyes on their helmet, why can't we put a cardinal or a tornado on ours?!

Like back in the day!
ooof

hey at least we stopped that like 50 years before most of the SEC!

I am curious how Iowa State handled that back in the day. Was it a concerted effort to keep black students from playing sports until Jack Trice or was it just that we didn't have any black student athletes? I am hoping the latter but probably a bit of both
