I am in the Cedar Rapids area today and with Iowa playing at the same time as us I’d rather not just go to a random bar to watch ISU. Any game watches or ISU bar recommendations?
Yeah unfortunately there is rarely much of a crowd at these things. We had a really nice crowd at the bowl game and watch against Notre Dame though.Goldfinch it Marion is technically the game watch bar but there is typically not a large crowd. I’ve never been there at the same time as an Iowa game though
I always thought the same thing. There are enough alumni in the area it shouldn’t be that hard. Regardless, there is a decent chance I go sit at Goldfinch by myself and see who else shows upYeah unfortunately there is rarely much of a crowd at these things. I have debated getting involved and trying to make it something like the DFW club as there isn’t really a reason it can’t be.
It’s my wife’s birthday and she is having a girls day otherwise I would join you.I always thought the same thing. There are enough alumni in the area it shouldn’t be that hard. Regardless, there is a decent chance I go sit at Goldfinch by myself and see who else shows up
It’s been a chronic problem forever. Unless there’s a guaranteed say 50% of a bar noticeably wearing ISU gear l, it just doesn’t work. And who wants to commit to it without knowing if anyone else shows. Easier to stay home. Thousands of Clone fans in the area and can’t get 50 to show. No leadership in the area and I’m too lazy to do it either. A few of us should just buy a bar and be done with it. Anyone in?Yeah unfortunately there is rarely much of a crowd at these things. As a born and raised metro Cyclone I am fairly serious about getting something more serious and engaging going. Will be time to put my effort where my mouth is once I convince my wife that being involved with/on a third board won’t be that bad…It’s been a chronic problem forever. Heading there for lunch. Probably head home for the game though. Iowa fans are insufferable.I always thought the same thing. There are enough alumni in the area it shouldn’t be that hard. Regardless, there is a decent chance I go sit at Goldfinch by myself and see who else shows up
My wife is adamant that we should open an ISU bar in the area. It’s been a chronic problem forever. Unless there’s a guaranteed say 50% of a bar noticeably wearing ISU gear l, it just doesn’t work. As someone who has been a little bit involved in Cedar Rapids Alumni events, the problem is convincing a bar owner to go all in.As a born and raised metro Cyclone I am fairly serious about getting something more serious and engaging going.
