Not exactly sure.
Like people you don't even know?
Had one of the “migrant” workers at the coop who liked to pat me on the stomach and say something in Spanish. Pretty sure he wasn’t asking if I was pregnant. I told them just wait for the cold as I wore a light sweatshirt and they had all coveralls and heavy parkas on. The other would always flex at me since I could open stuff he couldn’t.

They all mostly had physical jobs which worked off the intakes. They also ate a lot of breads and fattier meat, the worst being lots of lard.
The lard was normally used to make sure you got enough fuel for the hard work. It's no secret why we're fat. We don't exercise and we eat crap, plus we're high stress (cortisol) and sleep deprived.

Iowa, as a major corn and bean producer, is at the crux of the ongoing epidemics of chronic disease such as obesity, heart disease, metabolic syndrome, hyperinsulinemia, NAFLD.....

Corn is used to make corn syrup, which is sugar and sugar - often HFCS - is in nearly every one of the thousands of fake/processed food items in every grocery store. Oils such as those extracted from corn and beans too are in nearly every one of the thousands of fake/processed food items in every grocery store. These fake/processed foods, made largely of processed plant sugars and processed plant oils (and often fried in processed plant oils) - were largely unknown to humankind a century ago,you know, back when people were thin. People would do well to never eat these fake/processed foods. Best eat the real foods, lower carb foods, your ancestors ate - meats, seafoods, eggs, dairy, cheeses, non-starchy veg/greens, etc.
At least here in Muskieville, corn is used to make something other than HFCS.

The largest producer of beverage grade ethanol in the world is HQ'd here. 194 proof of firewater by the barge load, rail tanker load and tanker trailer load, 24/7/365. o_O

Kind of. Make comments about your belly. But I think they are one of the skinniest countries in the world and their society is kind of weight obsessed.

They also kept calling me tough guy. I was told it's because I have a beard and they just associate Americans with soldiers because of our military presence in the country. It was a weird vibe.

The Chinese love and consume lots of pork, so I don’t really think that is a big part of it. Although they at least don’t eat fried tenderloins or other deep fried junk.

We consume roughly double the lbs of meat per capita that china does.

If your existence was following a government that will toss your a$$ in a work camp for the slightest anti think, and parents demanding perfection in everything you do, then you'd burn maximum daily calories too. What a life. Pass.

We just over eat in general.
We overeat and we overconsume simple sugars. I'm in awe the lack of awareness that people have of what is in their food, including myself when I first cut 60 pounds. The amount of added sugars to everything is unreal. The problem is we're trying to satisfy our taste buds rather than satisfy the rest of our body.

I’d like to see the urban vs rural stats. I would bet that rural people have higher obesity rates.
