Purdy is making himself a lot of money with these starts; at worst he is showing the 49ers and the league that he can play as a backup in the league.

He is on a cheap contract right now for the 49ers, and they will want to keep him around while they control him for the next 4 seasons, guaranteeing him at least an NFL pension.

He’s making about 1 million a year, but you have to think some endorsements are probably in the works, which would earn him much more than his football salary.

He is making $705,000 this year, with a signing bonus of $20,000. He gets a bump to $870,000 next year, and its not until the 4th year when he breaks a million a year.

If he balls out and finished with great numbers and 4-2 record, I could actually see someone like Carolina Panthers, the Saints, Texans, or some team like that pursue him to be a starter. What a wild world that would be.

The bar at this point I think is high quality backup. I would be very worried if I were Trey Lance, he has nowhere close to Brock's accuracy.

Reminds me of Sage saying something about how he took seriously his preseason and mop-up duty because he considered it auditioning for his next job.

Purdy is under contract for the next 3 years after this with the 49ers, no way those other teams even have a chance to get him. As well as he is playing, abet only 2 games, the 49ers have to be thinking he could be the future, and plan on keeping him at least as long as they have him on a cheap, controlled contract.
