TD pass was thrown short with receiver having to wait for it. Like we know, this pass was beyond his range. Could have been picked off.
Are you one of the people who constantly bitched about Purdy while he was here at ISU too? I told many people last year, who were clamoring for Dekkers to get a shot, "We are going to miss Brock more than you can imagine." And it was true. Maybe he doesn't have the strongest arm, but that kid has an amazing ability to escape a rush and keep a play alive. He had an amazing game yesterday. Any ISU fan looking for reasons to bash on him has to have some issues.

That was the first non-Vikings NFL game I have actually intently watched this year. In fact, that was probably the most intently I've watched any NFL first half all season, even the Vikings' games.

The 49ers know EXACTLY what Purdy's range is. So you are saying that the 49ers called a pass play that they knew was beyond his range? That would be a bit stupid and wouldn't happen.

Even if Purdy were not to play another snap in the NFL he's already made the history books which is impressive in itself. First Mr.Irrelvant to complete a pass and throw a TD and the 1st QB to make his first start against the GOAT Brady and win. I'm hoping that Brock can lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl (to lose to my Chiefs of course otherwise I will root for him to win it all) and make it difficult for them to bench him next season over Trey Lance. At the very least he has opened up some opportunities to at least have a long career as a backup or get a chance to compete for a starting job elsewhere once his contract is up. It wasn't all that long ago the story was if he would even make the team over Sudfield who has guaranteed money. In hindsight the 49ers have to feel good about the decision they made to keep Purdy over Sudfield.

Assuming Purdy continues to play well, The 49ers will have one hell of a QB conundrum this offseason.

You've got Trey Lance who they drafted to be their guy going forward. You've got Jimmy G, who was doing pretty damn good this season until getting hurt, and the Purdy, who could also be a very serviceable QB. If nothing else the 49ers will have some serious leverage for trading.

Jimmy G is not under contract for next season. Unless the 49ers want to use the franchise tag on him, which would be approximately $30 mil for one season (they're not going to do that), or sign him to a long term deal, (they didn't want to do that this past off-season) he won't be on the team.

That qb room is going to be Lance and Purdy next year. I can't see San Francisco moving off of Lance just yet. They gave up a ton to get him and he's cheap for two more seasons.

Makes for some interesting trade scenarios though. Realistically what do the 49er's really need? They have the number 1 defense in the NFL right now and a ton of weapons on offense. Assuming Brock keeps things rolling like he is though it's going to make for some really tough decisions for the front office.

Time to update the recruiting materials!
"Rapidly improve your NFL capability as a quarterback behind an offensive line that is limited on blocking, questionable on pass protection and putting you behind the sticks with frequent false starts. Learn to overcome the greatest adversity with shaky special teams play leaving you deep in your own field, spotting the other team points and requiring you to always score touchdowns. You cannot find a better experience than this to prepare you to be a perennially successful NFL quarterback."

The RT McGlinchley and C Brendel are both free agents.

About 40% of their snaps from the defensive backfield are also set to hit free agency between Ward, Gipson, and Mosely (not to mention Jason Verrett).

They have $14M in cap space to work with to fill some of these spots and they can clear some more with a few cuts. But just like any franchise there will be gaps to fill with draft picks. At a minimum they'll probably get a 2024 3rd round comp pick if Jimmy G signs elsewhere in FA.

I'm not sure that it does. Who is going to give up a bunch of picks for Trey Lance? We've barely seen him in two seasons. The 49ers gave up 4 picks (3 if them first rounders) to take Lance. At this point, is he even worth a 2nd round pick? Hard to see anyone giving up anything or value for him right now. And Purdy, despite looking good yesterday, is still very much in prove it mode. A lot more will have to play out before the 49ers fully hand him the keys.

It would be so much easier to root for the 49ers if Shanahan wasn't in charge. I had such a disdain for his dad for many years and his son at times looks like a chip off the ol' block. I had been a 49ers fan as a kid, but eventually KC replaced them as my #1 during Mike's tenure as OC of SF. SB LIV was super satisfying on multiple levels seeing kid Shanahan blow another SB lead.

They can have a dirt cheap QB room with Purdy and Lance, then build/maintain a great roster around them. Assuming Lance is good to go I’m guessing they will try to see what they have in him early, feeling good about Brock if needed. Now if Brock tears it up the rest of the way, then that would change things.
