TD pass was thrown short with receiver having to wait for it. Like we know, this pass was beyond his range. Could have been picked off.

I also saw that in the last two years Jimmy G had two passes completed outside the numbers more than 20 yards down field, I believe BCB had three in yesterday's game. No clue how long this ride lasts for him, it could be a Linsanity like flare up and out, or it could be sustained success. But in the NFL it is pretty rare a kids drops on the scene and everyone on the team loves him, plays hard with him, and they have significant success in his first start at QB. So shut up and enjoy the ride. ISU doesn't get nice things, let's let this one play out.

Colin Herd says the 49ers should now unload Jimmy G. He said Purdy is a more mobile Jimmy G.

I was thrilled when I heard that Brock signed a 3 year contract with the 49ers, but now it looks like the 49ers are the real winners with that deal. Brock needs to scoop up some major endorsements and make big bucks while he can. Hope the endorsements start rolling in soon.

He benefited from some great experience in his college career. There are huge experience advantages to playing behind a shaky O-line for four years.

I think people often forget how much our coaching staff and "system" hung him out to dry. Last few years he had Hutch and Kolar which REALLY helped mask a lot of the deficiencies, but the play calling and route selection was abysmal. Too often (which continued this year) our receivers weren't out of their routes when he needed to throw or the receivers were running slow developing plays at the same depth of the field.

For the first time in his career he has competency on the sideline. He no longer has to deal with the stupid **** we did here and he's flourishing. Many of the pundits are surprised but we really shouldn't be. He's taking the opportunity and using his work ethic to make the most of it. Good for him and I hope it continues.

It would be so much easier to root for the 49ers if Shanahan wasn't in charge. I had such a disdain for his dad for many years and his son at times looks like a chip off the ol' block. I had been a 49ers fan as a kid, but eventually KC replaced them as my #1 during Mike's tenure as OC of SF. SB LIV was super satisfying on multiple levels seeing kid Shanahan blow another SB lead.
Is this legal? Checks notes, multiple SF suber bowls 30ish years ago, and now multiple KC super bowls in the last 10 years.

I honestly can't decide if I'm happier for Purdy or this thread title. Don't have to wonder if he's built from Legos anymore.

We're talking early 90's where KC was my AFC team (was a big Schottenheimer fan) and rose to full favorite just after SF won the SB with Steve Young. I suffered with KC through those garbage years with Herm Edwards/Todd Haley/Romeo Crennel to get to where they are now. Still kept a passing interest in the 49ers, but the last decade of coaches and GMs haven't been my cup of tea.

I don't know where Brock fits in with the 49ers, but this week long stretch has made him all kinds of money. Even if he doesn't make it as a starter, having Kyle Shanahan rave about you, having the respect of that veteran locker room and having good film against a good defense will get you about any backup job you want.

Brock may or may not be a starter once his team has a healthy qb room, but over the past two weeks he’s made himself money on a future deal somewhere. As a starter or a backup. Good on him for making the absolute most of a tough situation. Happy to see it.
