Thank you.Colo-Nesco
I was also informed that Kade hasn't practiced since Monday.
My initial thought was either the remnants of the CMB breakup or CN.

yawn. Can this be moved to the Gossipy Ole biddies Trouble in River City forum?
I get that...but in this case its not just a school wanting to send a kid there....this is a kid convicted of what I would consider a pretty severe crime, and sounds like has a history of issues. This should be more like do the crime you do the time, by order of the court, and take the school and their bias bs out of it.For those asking about state facilities such as Woodward Academy, our state is in a crisis. 3-4 years ago, it was fairly easy for schools to send a kid to Woodward. Woodward is now not only full, but the requirements for students to now qualify for Woodward are much, much more extensive than they were just a couple of years ago.
Can't send him to Toledo. That facility shut down over a decade ago.Toledo or Eldora would be more appropriate punishment for this, imo.
Yeah, equating unproven rumors of a kid swiping a sweatshirt with what the Blume kid pled guilty to doing makes plenty of sense.Roland-Story...I remember when we kicked this kid out of our commits after he stole from the locker room. Seems like a good program they have going on there.

It's stupid that Sand is wasting time on this because it's not a loan it's a Public Private Partnership (PPP). The only debt involved here is on the side of the investor (Meridiam) which is likely project financing this, the U of I and the state of Iowa have no debt exposure here and the U of I is only on the hook for a relatively small fixed payment every quarter/year.Saw a report from WHO-13 a couple of days ago where Rob Sand, state auditor, had asked for some paperwork on the 50 year utilities deal the U of I has for like 1.2 billion. Largest state loan ever. Lots of questions on this deal. See that Iowa was not very forthcoming with information as usual. Here is the article the Gazette has on it.

??? Uhhh…what? It's stupid that Sand is wasting time on this because it's not a loan it's a Public Private Partnership (PPP). These structures are hugely advantageous to both sides, the U of I gets 1.2bn up front and then pays the investors a small fee for an agreed term, 50 years in this case. The investors then almost necessarily have to use their own leverage to make a decent return, as the payment is so small that if they were to fund it with entirely equity, the return would be nihil. Usually these projects are project financed with between 85-98% gearing (debt / total capital)
See below for an overview of how PPPs are structured and how money flows

Do you have a link to this? I hadnt heard this before and in a town this small we hear everything.Carlisle had 3 8th graders jack off in a Gatorade bottle on the bus at a JH track meet and poor it on the face of a sleeping teammate. They received a one track meet suspension and were allowed to participate in baseball.
Was thinking the same thing...I can't imagine jerking it on a bus infront of people but hey kids are weird nowadays as they say.Do you have a link to this? I hadnt heard this before and in a town this small we hear everything.
I find it hard to believe that 3 middle school kids who are probably still going thru puberty and think jacking off is gross, would do that on a bus full of their peers into the same gatorade bottle.
I agree and totally understand what you are saying. No chance this happened in the early 2000s. But... today porn (of mind blowing varieties) is everywhere and easily accessible, and society has quickly become incredibly desensitized to privacy and decorum.Do you have a link to this? I hadnt heard this before and in a town this small we hear everything.

Translation….”because everyone has their panties in a bunch so we can’t sweep this under the rug, I guess he won’t participate this year”Two-time defending state champion Roland-Story wrestler Kade Blume will not be competing in high school activities for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year, according to the district.
I thought it might be appropriate to post what a large group of R-S students have had to say about the situation. This comes from the Story City People forum on Facebook.
Is this our place to say it? No. It’s not our job. But someone has to say it.
In light of the recent (and not so recent) events, students want their voices to be heard on the situation.
This is anonymous because this is not the voice of a single person, but a voice representing a large group of students in our high school. Please understand that comments are now turned off because that seems to be the root of the secondary problems on this page.
Your own children - members of this community - are disappointed and unimpressed by the adults around us, specifically, people on this page. We are told to be mature, think before we speak, and hold our tongue when it isn’t our business - ironic if you ask us.
Here are our grievances:
1. You speak as if you know what is going on. One thing we must ALL admit is that very few of us truly know what is going on. Most of you base your opinions off posts from this exact page. You get your information from people who heard it from another. In a court of law, that is called hearsay and deemed unreliable. To quote our English teachers: “Is that a reliable source? Can this source be trusted? Can you cross reference this information?” Please stop pretending that you know EVERYTHING about this situation. You don’t.
2. More than not, if a post is removed, chances are that students are reporting it, not adults. As said before, half of what is posted is ungrounded and unreliable. It is viewed as a service that this misinformation is being removed because not all of you bother to think before you post.
3. The cheerleaders feel that the controversy of cheering for Kade was taken out of proportion. The school released a letter approved and signed by the cheerleaders; they were told not to sign it if it was untruthful. Some people are so quick to assume the worst, and it is disgusting. The school did not force them to dismiss this rumor. It was their own choice. It was false, they wished to correct it. Stop pretending like you know what is happening. In addition, they have said that they dislike this type of attention and wish the community would leave them out of this situation as a whole.
4. Lastly, we want to address the lack of maturity. Touched on before, the adults in this community have become well-practiced in speaking their minds without a second thought. Yes, it is your right and your freedom, BUT, there are 3.3k people who can view these posts. Ever heard of a digital footprint? It’s the reality that things can never be truly deleted; they will follow you forever. To quote many notorious people on this page: “I have screenshots.” Though we are only “kids,” we still read every single post. We see your names. We talk about you. The immature parents on this page are the laughing stock in the high school. We recognize your names and look forward to your next impulsive post. It’s entertaining watching you all bicker like 5th graders - we said it, you are acting like immature, irresponsible, and petty 5th graders.
If you have read this far, thank you. Thank you for hearing our voice. Sure we are “undeveloped” teenagers and “know nothing about the real world,” but we also recognize that intelligence and mindfulness (especially when it pertains to us) often occur BEFORE we are legally considered adults. A.K.A we have opinions on the matter too. If your impression after reading this is “stupid kids who know nothing,” then we encourage YOU, the adults, the parents, the decision-makers, to consider what kind of example you are setting, and maybe consider hearing the people (us, the students) who directly deal with this issue. Students have become stressed with this situation only since it had started hitting the headlines. We don’t want this attention, but apparently the parents think that the only way to make a change is to torture the students who had nothing to do with this situation. Please stop. You are punishing an entire community of people for the actions of one. How are we supposed to be formed into “model citizens” when our only models are impulsive, angry, and vengeful parents who think they are above the law and know more than everyone else?
Takeaways:
1. You don’t know everything.
2. Your own children are exhausted by your behavior.
3. Leave us out of this.
4. Consider the impression you leave with the things you say.
Sincerely,
Your Children
It's only a "news story" because R-S and adults involved made it a news story by not doing the right thing. Had they done the right thing right away, there wouldn't be all of the publicity around it.IMO, this is a pretty good example of why kids maybe shouldn't have a whole lot to say considering they put this out and it really doesn't say anything. Outside of touching on the cheerleader stuff, which has been taken care of, they don't really put forth anything other than finger waving.
The whole issue, at least to me, is that this is even a news story. Unfortunately things like this happen but we don't hear of all of it because usually there's an adult somewhere that just does the obvious thing. That's the problem. I don't see anything in that statement deriding the adults who don't have the fortitude to just do what I think almost everyone sees as the obvious thing. Now, we probably could debate the future of this kid and whether he's expelled, etc. but in the short term there is no way he should be involved in anything for this school year at an absolute minimum.
This pretty much sums up all of facebook in general these days.I thought it might be appropriate to post what a large group of R-S students have had to say about the situation. This comes from the Story City People forum on Facebook.

I find it bizarre that any high school kids would look at Facebook let alone post there
None of my five adult sons are on Facebook and the oldest is 32. My husband has an account to help track local small businesses who use it as a website really, but I do not. Some woman posted way too much personal info about her teenage son that my husband showed me and said wouldn’t he be humiliated. We both came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t matter because no teenager would be caught dead on FacebookI mostly post so my aunts and uncles can see what we're up to...but I'm also 20 years older than a HS student.
